Baby Girl Name Idea's - What should I name my Baby Girl?
What shall we name her?
We are having a difficult time deciding on a name for our child who is due on the summer solstice, 6/21/2014. Below you will find our favorite names and instead of the "meaning" per the nonsense websites of the interweb, I will write a small passage on each, to explain what these names mean to me. There are so many baby name websites and they all contradict each other, so I thought, why not write my own feelings about the names.
I hope you enjoy, and please do feel free to vote and leave a comment if you wish to share a suggestion for a baby name. If the name fits our family and last name, I will write up how I feel about it and add it to the list.
1. Evelyn
This is a name that was on the list for our last daughter too. This name seems timeless. A beautiful lady, forever young, who holds her ground, expresses herself and is graceful. It brings to mind, thoughts of light and as such, in my mind, corresponds with the solstice.
Neither of us, as the parents have a family history of the name Evelyn, and we don't know anyone with this name, so existing connections have no weight here.
2. Arya
Another one from the list that we made three years ago for our other little girl. This name brings to mind courage, strength, faithfulness and beauty. A well educated woman who knows what she wants from life. Determination and independence.
This name has no family link and neither of us know anyone with this name although recently we noticed the name in a TV show and although the character is interesting, it turned us off the name a little.
3. Lucy
For us, Lucy is a happy child and a positive adult. She overlooks peoples weaknesses and focuses on their strengths. She is a leader, yet is not forceful. People choose to follow her down to earth charms. Lucy is gentle yet strong. She smiles yet she is always thinking.
4. Eve
Eve. Pure as the grass on the hillside as the sun shines through the late summer leaves. Eve has a wonderful mind. She is artistic, carefree and spirited. Her mind is sure and her energy calm. She is caring, loving and nurturing.
I have no history with this name and neither does me wife. This is nice, as there is no worries or doubts regarding confusion or subconscious perception.
5. Adia
Adia the curious, Adia the brave. Adia feels like a name that portrays a strong character. A girl who isn't afraid to take on the world. When faced with adversity, Adia stands tall and holds her ground. She is never afraid to speak her mind or portray her thoughts to others. She is an explorer, always expanding, searching and reaching out.
We do not have a family history of this name and I am not even sure if it exists as a name as I have never even heard of an Adia.
6. Adilyn
Adilyn the clever, Adilyn the pacifist. This name gives me great hope and makes me picture the word diversity in my mind. Adilyn is a leader when it suits her, but only through peaceful means. She learns from all those around her and the world she was born into. She takes the faults of others and learns their lessons. She is fond of education and always expanding, thinking and helping others to better themselves.
Adilyn is a name I am unfamiliar with and neither of us know anyone by this name so their is no sentiment there.
7. Lisa
Lisa is strong yet reserved. Easy going and kind of heart. She is a loyal person who although artistic, reserves her best pieces for the best moments. Lisa likes to step back and watch the world pass by while taking it all in. This allows her to analyze peoples best parts while accepting their weaknesses. She yearns to help the less fortunate and is full of surprises, even taking herself by storm when she takes that step back to see how she is shaping up now and then. Her modesty can be overwhelming at time, but this very factor is the reason why she is so good at being who she is.
Lisa is the mother of our children and the best person I have ever known. She does not like her name. I feel that it would be a blessing on any child to be named after her.
