What to Expect (When you're expecting) - A review.
There are two things that I do when I first find out I'm pregnant. The first being a visit to the doctor, and the second being a visit to the 'What to expect when you're expecting" website. I've used this site, and the book, since my first pregnancy five years ago. My OB/GYN had given me a copy of the book and recommending that I not only read it, but track my pregnancy through the site. I was so glad that I was pointed in this direction.
What does this website offer?
Well, I'm glad you asked! Whether you are trying to conceive, already pregnant, post partum, or even in the first year of baby's life, this site is for you! They offer a whole section on preconception, geared to help you get pregnant. From eating healthy, to preparing for a new child to fertility tracking. In the pregnancy section they offer everything under the sun! There's a week-by-week pregnancy tracker that offers information on your growing baby, tips for dad, and the effect the pregnancy is having on your body. There's also support groups, forums, blogs, contests and all sort of information for any question you might have along the way. Even after you give birth, the "What to Expect" pages gives lots of information and tracks baby's growth into the toddler years. You get the same great groups, forums, and blogs for this section of your parenthood as well! The website is a must visit!
The Book..
During my very first visit to the OB/GYN, I received a copy of "What to expect when you're expecting". I couldn't get enough of it! The week-by-week information in it was great for on the go and when I wasn't able to get to a computer. It has all the same great information for you, and for dad, inside it's pages. This book makes a great gift for those who do not want, or cannot access the website. It's worth the time to pick up a copy for you, a friend or the daddy. I haven't been able to get my husband on the website, but a well placed copy in the bathroom makes for good reading material!
The app!
I was so excited when I found out that "What to Expect" had a app for my phone! Now I carry it with me where ever I go. It's great for a quick week-by-week run down of my pregnancy. You won't have to remember exact dates and stats because they offer the pregnancy tracker right there. You get both the weekly pregnancy information, as well as daily tips offered through the app. You can go to your groups and taking photos with your phone and have a visual track of your body as you get bigger each week. It's just wonderful, I haven't found an app as good as this one yet.
The Movie..
Yes, they finally have a movie that just released in theaters. I have yet to see it but there's been great reviews for it, and alot of my friends have been telling me to hit it up!
