Father is more likely. But Mother is most willing.

I would say that it is definately an individual decision, but mostly would depend on who knows how to swim??

If they're worthy of being parents.. either would do it

Both would immediately, without question. That is what it is to be a parent. It's not gender specific.

Um it really depends on the culture and background of each person.  Some people are protectors, while others worry more about themselves...I would say in my thought the mother as the relationship with a son is overwhelming and strong...she would do it without any thought, it would be an instinct to jump and die if need be while the father saves the boy, she would draw attention to herself to the crock....
