What are best practices for weaning a toddler off formula onto whole milk?
Once you feel they are ready for milk, I would dilute the formula just a little and then every few days back off more formula, replacing it with milk. I think easing them into this might work.
Formula is such nasty stuff, my daughter that was on formula was fine with the switch.
Unless there are medical reasons for feeding powdered baby milk, just do it naturally, my mother never had problems with me or my sibblings, my wife never had problems with our lot. There is too much worrying about this type of natural event, just do it, we've been doing it since we were invented.
Try using a different receptacle for the milk than you used for formula. My toddler liked the novelty of sipping from a cup with a straw. We went from breastfeeding to drinking whole milk this way, and he never used bottles.
