Is it ok for teenagers to have sex if the state ok's it but parents don't?
It’s legal for Pennsylvania minors within four years of age of one another to have consensual sex
For one thing, NO!!! Sex involves an emotional attachment to the parties involved and it does more to the human body, emotions and heart than just a few hours frolic in the bed. This is a stupid, irresponsible action by the state. What ever happened to kids being kids, learning work ethics and having a future instead of STD's, condoms, and unwanted pregnancies that, by the way, us tax payers usually end up paying for because those young mothers have to go on the system just to provide for their babies. The father usually walks away. Parent's need to be teaching their kids to work on "having a life first" before they start fooling around, and these kids need to know the consequences of their actions before they strip down naked. Good question, by the way!!
April, I couldn't believe it when I read it. I'm with you all the way!
"Parents need to be teaching their kids to work on "having a life first" before they start fooling around, and these kids need to know the consequences of their actions before they strip down naked." The state is not preventing this.
As a society, what are we doing to our children? What role do parents have in the instruction and development of our own offspring? Do we just dismiss the responsibility because the 'state' says it's okay? What if the state said it was okay to jump off a cliff? I'm sure that a few might even consider following. It's too easy to have children nowadays and if parents do not show responsibility for their own actions then the 'state' will step right in and do it, for a nominal fee I might add. Nothing is FREE anymore and the care and upkeep of neglected children is no answer to this dilemma. And while I'm at I might just add, abortion is not the answer either. Somewhere along the line people need to 'WISE-UP' and become educated and responsible...
Minors having sex is hardly anything new. It's been going on for generations.
Kids have disrespected adults for generations. They have bullied other kids, stolen, and even worse. Do we just give up on them because it's something they do?
Parents can talk all they want. But if children want to have sex... they will have sex. Sometimes no matter how much you talk to kids they do the opposite. I agree they should talk about it and not leave it up to society
The more that you insist they don't, the more they resist in doing it. YOU are the parent, not the State. It is best that YOU teach YOUR child the right way to live. YOU should have been doing that since the day they were born.
They're gonna do it anyway, whether or not they have permission from the state, their parents, or anybody...
Most teens do not ask their parents permission to have sex.(I know I didn't) The vast majority of them have sex with other teens. At most a parent can do is encourage group dating or try to get them to avoid "serious" relationships with one person. Raging hormones Vs a lecture....Usually the lecture loses.
Teens attempt to emulate adult relationships. If two teens have been dating for awhile and consider themselves to be "in love" and a "couple", they are going to go through all of the steps including kissing, touching each other's organs, and evenutally having sex. Most of these couples "believe" they have found their "soul mate" at age 15 or 16. Parents can't be around their teens 24/7. Law or no law teenagers have always had sex and will continue to do so. I've always found it kind of ironic that we say a 16 or 17 year old is too young to legally "consent" to having sex and yet we will try a twelve year old (as an adult) for murder and other crimes.

It seems to be that there are more and more teenage pregnancies every year. Do you think that teenagers are starting out too soon?
