I believe that it is crucial that honesty Is promoted and expected. All members of the family should know that within the home there is a "safe haven" where no secrets are kept and no judgments made. Children must be able to be honest with their parents safe in the knowledge that they are unconditionally loved. The truth must never be compromised. My kids know that they will not be in trouble for telling the truth. There may be consequences for their actions but those consequences will be greater if they add lying to their resumé.
