Not So Lazy Days: Attacking the heat with guns (filled with water, of course)

Updated on July 22, 2011

Sports & Games

Some people would say 101 degrees is hot. Some people would not be us.

We're not crazy, and it's not because we lived in Florida for a little bit. We also didn't spend the entire day indoors.

It's because we battled the heat, and we won.

Okay, actually, we battled each other. We each grabbed a gun, filled it with water and started shooting. A boogie board tuned into a shield. Trees and play forts turn into barriers for protection.

Eventually we realized getting wet was the best part, so we just hopped in the blow-up pool (where we were getting our ammo anyway) and attacked each other from within the pool.

We laughed, we screamed with glee, we conquered the heat.

About the Not So Lazy Days series

I've challenged myself to find a new activity to do five days a week every week of the kids' summer vacation. Activities will fall under one of three categories: Arts & Crafts, Sports & Games or Field Trips. Follow me on Twitter @readallaboutsam for immediate updates on posts!
