Apple Brown Betty was easy to make so it was usually the dessert served with Red Beans And Rice on Mondays in New Orleans. For your Apple Brown Betty Recipe you will need.

1. 12 Granny Smith Apples peeled cored and cut into thin even slices.

2. 2 Tablespoons Cinnamon.

3. 2 Cups Self Rising Flour.

4. 1/2 Cup Light Brown Sugar.

5. 1/2 Cup Real Butter.

Apple Brown Betty Syrup

1. 1 Cup Light Brown Sugar.

2. 1/2 Cup Hot Water.

3. Juice of One Lemon.

Spray a 9"X13" Baking Dish with vegetable cooking spray. Spread your apples out over the bottom of the baking pan. Sprinkle the cinnamon over the top of the apples. Make your Apple Brown Betty Syrup and set aside.

Make your topping from the flour , brown sugar , and the real butter. Be sure to use real butter as it will affect the taste. Pour half the syrup in the pan over the apples and then put the topping on. Now pour the other half of the syrup over the topping. Bake in a 350 degree pre heated oven for 45 minutes until the topping is golden brown.

When you are ready to serve place a generous serving of the Apple Brown Betty in a dish and place a serving of vanilla ice cream on top.
