One of my favorite all time things to do is bake usually try to do more from scratch, but believe it or not I was pressed on time this weekend and needed a quick fix to bring to a family block party for all the kids in our family. I was grocery shopping and was in the baking aisle when I found that Duncan Hines was on sale this weekend. So my first thought was cupcakes, because most kids (my two included) love cupcakes. If I do a store brand, I usually do Pillsbury Funfetti, but looking at the Duncan Hines Brand found something called frosting creations.

Frosting Creations are apparently a fairly new product from Duncan Hines and with Frosting Creations, you get a can of plain frosting and can choose from a variety of flavorings to add to it to make flavors that are much more distinctive than those you’ll usually find in the baking aisle. I have food colored my frosting in the past to get a desired color and even flavored them too to the desired taste, but this little packet was to do all this for me. I decided on trying Cotton Candy, because let's face it what kid doesn't like cotton candy, plus the cotton candy was a fun blue color to boot.

Well, lo and behold, I made these cupcakes and they weren't homemade, but let me tell you they were still a hit with kids and adults too. By the way, I added Wilton Sprinkles in hot pink, purple and white too!! I was told they were fun and tasty too!! So if you want a quick, inexpensive and tasty treat and don't have time to go all out baking, look no further, because they cupcakes should be able to do the trick nicely.

  5. Let the cupcakes cool for about 3o minutes before removing them from the pans.

Yummy! I am sure the kids will have fun making this. They love to mix and using the frosting creations will be a great way to keep them busy mixing while I can attend to the adult parts like heating up the oven.

      Thanks for the quick advice.

My daughter has been asking me to make these for a while now. She sees the ads and the containers in the stores. Wasn't sure about them, but now I'm definitely going to give them a try. Good treat as a back to school surprise! Thanks!

These look absolutely delicious! I have an extremely bad sweets addiction, so I would probably double this. 1 batch for my self and 1 batch for the rest of my friends :D

Yumm! I usually walk straight past the pre-made frostings, but the new Creations line might be worth a try. The cupcakes are gorgeous. I hope they taste as good as they look :-)

      Voted up and useful.

Even though these are not home made from scratch they really look good. Hey, we can't always make stuff from scratch, can me? Sometimes the boxed stuff tastes better than what I can do anyway.

      I voted this Hub UP,

True Mary about not always being able to make from scratch. With 2 little kids I have learned that sometimes I just can't do it all no matter how I try. So in these cases the box stuff just comes in handy. Thanks again for stopping by, commenting and voting too!!

Michelle, believe me when these were cooking in my oven I was patiently waiting for them to be done, so I could try one. But they were for a party, so I had to wait a bit longer to try even after they were done. Thank you so much for the lovely comment and for the share too!!

Dianna, sorry that you read this one at the moment you did. but the good news is that these are relatively cheap and easy to make, so if and when you do get a chance to make the time and the money won't be the issue, it will be the calories!! Seriousy, thank you so much yet again for all your continued support and friendship :)

I have such a sweet tooth! This is a great one Janine, I am going to make these. I like that cupcakes are single servings so they don't create the mess cutting pieces like with a cake. Also, good idea to use yellow cake mmm :)

Christy, I too have a sweet tooth and these were so yummy and delicious. They definitely satisfy one's sweet tooth. I used yellow cake, but you could also use Funfetti cake, because this would even be sweeter. Thank you again for everything :)

Very glad to help you Angela Kane and hope you do try these and enjoy. I usually make more from scratch, but these are actually pretty good and will do the trick. As for cotton candy, these really do taste like cotton candy, so I don't think you will be disappointed with the taste of these too.
