Gluten Free Recipe: Delicious Fish Fingers

Updated on February 2, 2013

A lot like Fish Sticks but, Gluten Free

Like most moms, I want to expose my kids to many different kinds of foods so they can be nutritionally well rounded adults. Fish is a tricky one for little kids sometimes because it 'smells funny' and looks 'different'. We started our kids out on these Fish Fingers because they look very similar to Chicken Fingers and they could still dip them in ketchup. My boys are 11 and 9 years old now and they will eat most kinds of fish. They still enjoy having these every now and then and honestly, so do I.

Ingredients

2 ½ lbs white fish (cod, halibut, tilapia)

2 ½ cups Bob’s Red Mill Flour

3 cups Canola Oil (if using a 6 quart pan)

1 ½ tbls Onion Powder

1 ½ tbls Garlic Powder

1 tbls Black Pepper

2 tsp salt

3 tbls Paprika

½ cup milk (rice milk)

Directions

Heat oil in pan on high. (oil should be about an inch deep in pan)

Cut fish into ½ inch strips

Mix the spices into the flour

Dip chicken into the milk then flour mixture and cook in oil until deep brown.

Great recipe. My daughter has discovered an intolerance to gluten and this will be very useful. She has eliminated it from her diet and all of her digestive problems have resolved. Voted up.

This is really a very good recipe. Fish fries, cutlets, fingers are a favorite of our diet, in Bengal, India; and usually a corn-flour dip and bread crumb roll is used; when prepared at home people prefer an egg dip. But as my sister is allergic to egg, we cannot have such fries. You have given me a wonderful idea to get past the problem. Thanks. Voted up.

Thanks, Roxanne459. My son likes to eat fish sticks EVERY night! I think this weekend we'll give the Gorton Fisherman a rest and we'll all eat fish fingers.
