G M O - Genetically Modified Organisms - Monsanto & other's involved in Genetically Modified Foods

Updated on September 13, 2013

We have the right to decide what foods we are willing to eat and not, Monsanto or any other Corporate entity.

Most people believe they have the right to decide what is put into their food through Agencies like the FDA but, what they don't realize is the FDA is controlled by Big Corporations like Monsanto and they don't want you to have the freedom to choose what you eat.In fact they know most people trust the government when it comes to their health and well being. After all that's one of the functions of government.Right! Well that's what we are all told anyway!

The truth is the only way we will stay healthy is if we consciously control our own health by constantly being on guard where the production of the food we consume is concerned is coming from.

Almost everyone knows fast food is mostly unhealthy.Even the ones that are half way healthy aren't the best choice when it comes to our health.Just because a food isn't fried it can still be something other than what we assume it is. Cold cuts are usually loaded with chemicals.Unless you see how that meat was prepared, cooked etc then your just guessing weather it's healthy or not.Just read the ingredients on the packages at the supermarket if you don't think so!They are not so different than the meats at fast food places that sell cold cuts.

Young people under a certain age usually don't know any better. They just know if, food taste good they will eat it.There are adults who do the same thing.Oblivious to their health or lack of health, time and or convenience prevents them from caring about what they eat.

One well known saying I always hear - "I 'm going to die from something anyway"

There are those who say - "I have the right to eat anything I want"

I agree with the second statement and That's why I'm writing this!

People like me know better!

I care about my health enough to write about this and you should care about your health too!

The most Important thing in life is love your neighbor as yourself.

Isn't it enough that even without G M O - Genetically Modified Organisms in our food we still have to be concerned with modified food starch and high fructose corn syrup and processed food ingredients like white sugar and flour that's bleached etc............

I know most people could care less about what's in their food, but for those that do we still have the right to know what we are eating.

Do you support those who want to know if what they are eating contains G M O - Genetically Modified Organisms

See results

There is a push by corporations like Monsanto that want to change the definition of "Organic" to include G M O foods Do you support the change or not!

Not now! Weeds are fighting off the effects of MONSANTO'S"Round off" herbicide. Now bees are dying off due to the pesticide from G.M.O. CROPS like corn and soybeans.

It was written in my textbook that GMO food was a positive product that could mass produce faster and had enhanced nutrients in the improved food. It didn't really state if the GMO was detrimental to health in the long run.

Well at least it can produce more food faster and cheaper for third world countries.

Breaking news: A massive pesticide company has just asked the U.S. government to increase the legal limit for its bee-killing pesticides by 4000%.

      That’s right. Four. Thousand. Percent.

Bees are already facing a massive global die-off. This could be a death sentence for millions more bees.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is accepting public input on the decision for the next 27 days. So we're urgently working to organize beekeepers and the public to speak out against this devastating bee-killing proposal -- and we need your help. Can you chip in $1 to help get us started and fight for the bees?

Bees fill a crucial ecological role as pollinators and are essential for agriculture, and are responsible for every third bite of food we eat. In other words: No bees, no farms. No farms, no food. These pesticides are already banned in Europe. But rather than phase them out for the sake of our bees, pesticide companies are suing the European Union to overturn the ban. Now, they're petition the US government to massively increase the limits of pesticide residues -- residues that are actively harmful to bees, and can stay in the soil for up to a year.

Pesticide companies are already spending millions to get their way -- to beat them, we need to show the depth of public opposition to this move.

So here’s the plan: First, we’ll use social media, our five million member email list, and online ads to alert the public about this dangerous new threat. Then, we’ll organize beekeepers to speak out in the media to put pressure on the EPA to reject the proposal.

But with less than a month to save the bees, we have to act fast. And since we don’t get a dime from corporations, we count on you -- our members -- to provide the funding we need to win.

Can you chip in $1 to stop this urgent threat to bees?

Yes, I’ll chip in $1 to help save the bees.

We know we can win this. A massive public campaign helped get these bee-killing pesticides temporarily banned in the EU, and SumOfUs members are crowd-funding a legal intervention to protect the ban, too. This is just one battle in a larger fight -- but we have to win in the US, now, if we're going to win for the bees all around the world.

Thanks for all that you do,

Jon, Paul and the rest of the team at SumOfUs.org

Great hub. I'd be interested to know what I, as an individual, can do to thwart the likes of Monsanto, etc. Knowing now that they are behind Napalm (as it was used in Vietnam), makes me want clip their wings. Of course, the inventor's name (of Napalm), Louis Frederick Fieser, is out there but it's not widely known about Monsanto's role.

People need to be made aware of the dangers of GMOs, which must be labeled in Europe. Consequently, grocery stores don't carry them, because people don't like to buy these items. I hope we soon see similar legislation in the US.

What you discuss in this article is so very important. I wish that everyone was aware of what was going on with the food we put into our bodies and the Evil Super Corporation that has free control over it. Thank you for posting this. My hopes are that enough people will write about this, that people will become educated and stand up against it!

You know there are those in the Government of the United States and Canada that seem to think for themselves.

      Maybe I'm being too kind!

Maybe they think with their wallets and their jobs & bank accounts.

There's too little oversight of government by the average citizen if that's the correct term for complacency & too much oversight by Corporations like Monsanto that lobby government officials for such things . Money trumps Morals.

I am still wondering what is taking us so long--we need to label and ban GMOs--Europe does it--and it makes me want to grow more of my own food--the real crime is the failure to label--at least then we could make informed decisions

I just don't think it's right to produce GMO. And we should have the right to know which foods are GMO. Thanks.
