Updated on April 9, 2012

Banana Nut Bread

My grandmother alway's made us delicious banana nut bread every Sunday. I hope you enjoy this recipe and that you pass it down to your family like mine did. Here is what you'll need:

2/3 cup sugar

1/3 cup shortening

2 eggs

3 tbsp. sour cream or buttermilk

1 cup mashed banana's

2 cups flour

1 tsp. Baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup chopped walnuts

In a bowl thoroughly mix together sugar, shortening and eggs. After mixing these ingredients thoroughly together stir in milk and banana's.

In a separate bowl sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt. When sifted together add to your wet mixture and mix all together, then blend in your walnuts.

Pour mixture into a well greased loaf pan and let sit for 20 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, Serve warm or cold.

As a special extra treat when adding walnut to mixture you can also add a 1/4 cup of chocolate chips, for the chocolate lover in you.

I hope you enjoy this delicious tasty dessert that my grandmother use to make for me.
