Grandma's Banana Nut Bread
Banana Nut Bread
My grandmother alway's made us delicious banana nut bread every Sunday. I hope you enjoy this recipe and that you pass it down to your family like mine did. Here is what you'll need:
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup shortening
2 eggs
3 tbsp. sour cream or buttermilk
1 cup mashed banana's
2 cups flour
1 tsp. Baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
In a bowl thoroughly mix together sugar,shortening and eggs. After mixing these ingredients thoroughly together stir in milk and banana's.
In a separate bowl sift together flour,baking powder,baking soda,salt. When sifted together add to your wet mixture and mix all together, then blend in your walnuts.
Pour mixture into a well greased loaf pan and let sit for 20 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, Serve warm or cold.
As a special extra treat when adding walnut to mixture you can also add a 1/4 cup of chocolate chips, for the chocolate lover in you.
