Great Hamburger ideas and recipes
Say heck yes to hamburger!
Hamburger, a.k.a. ground beef, is an American Tradition!
Many of the immigrants that came to the U.S. from Germany, came from Hamburg. This is Germany's second largest city, and this is where the name is believed to originate from.
Here are some of my own ideas of how to spice up ground beef. They are original to me, though I just saw one on T.V. as a joke.
Chicken, turkey and low fat beef are good substitutes for all of these recipes! I also grind fish sometimes, depending on what I catch. Please try these, tell me what you think, and enjoy!
The fun ones first!
Here are my favorite hamburger recipes that I came up with as a kid.
The jackass roast-
Basically, you make a meatloaf in the shape of a turkey, but smaller, put it in a 2-3 inch deep pan, and then slap 2 turkey drum sticks on it. Make it look like a turkey with big legs and a smaller body.
Why? It's tasty and perfect for when you have your wacky friends over! What could be more fun?
You will need -
2 turkey legs and or wings
2 lbs. ground beef or turkey
Ketchup (Hunts)
1 large egg
spices and veggies
HERE is how- take 1 1/2 -2 lbs. of beef and place it in a mixing bowl, after draining the blood.
- add 1/2 cup of ketchup
- add 1 large egg
- 1 1/4 cup of dill relish
- garlic and salt as desired
-pre-heat oven at 350
- mix well and shape into the cooking pan like a pear
Roast turkey legs for 90 mins.
- After 45 mins., put the meatloaf in with the turkey for the turkey legs' last 45 mins.Use separate pans.
Meatloaf bakes for 45 mins, and the legs 1 1/2 hours.
Then take everything out. Baste the top of the meatloaf with more ketchup, drain the meatloaf, and set legs (and wings in if you wish) where they go. Bake for another 15 minutes.
-Cool and serve!
next,
The burger dog-
I love this one! And yes, a commercial just used one.
Its easy. I had nothing but hot dog rolls, so I made hamburgers in the shape of a hot dog.
Take you ground meat and add whatever you like! Try diced onions, garlic, pickles, tomatoes, mangoes, potatoes, ketchup, etc. and roll them up with the ground meat! Cook each dog for 4-5 mins. They are so good!
This is an actual recipe!
Here is how to fry them.
The best burgs ever!
Try these hamburger ideas and remember...always cook thoroughly!
Mix Velveeta or cheese whiz into a bowl with your ground beef. Then add some sliced jalapenos, or salsa. These are awesome!
My favorite? Take a tablespoon of Worcestershire Sauce and mix it into the ground beef. High in sodium but my goodness, this is so good!
Last, try my mango-Monterrey burger!
Cook the burger, melt the Monterrey Jack cheese, and slice your mangoes thin. Take the cooked burger, and place the mangoes on first. The pour on the cheese! For more boldness, add garlic to the burger before you cook it.
