Indian Dessert Recipe: How to make Rava Ladoo

 Rava ladoo is a popular sweet dish made from rava, sugar, milk, poppy seeds, cashewnuts and cardamom powder. This popular Indian dessert is best to serve cold. Learn how to make rava ladoo by following this easy recipe. I have also included rava ldoo recipe video at the end of this hub.

  • Rava (suji / semolina) - 1 cup
  • Powdered sugar - 1 cup
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Poppy seeds - 3 tsp
  • Cashewnuts - 1 tablespoon (small pieces)
  • Raisins - 1 tablespoon
  • Ghee - 2tsp
  • Cardamom powder - 1 tsp

How to make rava ladoo

Add ghee and fry the cashewnts and raisins till it turns golden brown in color. keep aside for later use. Fry the rava with ghee for 2 to 3 minutes on low heat. Then fry the poppy seeds. Now add rava, poppy seeds, cashewnuts, raisins, cardamom powder, sugar and rest of the ghee and mix well to prevent lumps. Add milk little by little and make small ladoo balls. Rava ladoo is ready to serve. When it cools, store it in a airtight container for about 1 week.

Tips for making rava ladoo:

  • Add some milk, if the ladoo mixture is too dry.
  • Do not heat the rava on high heat.
  • Do not use too much milk, as the ladoo won't be firm.
