I love everything weird and colorful in this world, and I try to live a life that will make the world a little better once I'm gone.

Jello Recipes - Bringing People Together

You can't go to a family picnic, or a neighbor's birthday party without seeing a jello dish of some sort on the table. This are the recipes lovingly made and passed on within families. These are the down to earth recipes that memories are based on. This is real life, this is good natured fun. This is....jello.

Frothy Seperated Layer

~ Jello Recipe ~

Replace the cold water in the regular preparation steps with 1/2 tub of cool whip. Blend using a mixer and pour into individual glass serving dishes - also looks great in champagne glasses. The jello will begin to separate almost immediately. Refrigerate until firm. An opaque frothy (but firm) pastel colored layer will form at the top. Below it is the traditional translucent brightly colored layer. Dress it up with a few berries or slice of fruit for a nice finish.

To Serve

Lekue Imperial Royal Crown Mold, Copper
Lekue Imperial Royal Crown Mold, Copper
Create jello mold, then fill the inside hole with a jello salad. The mold acts as a bowl for the salad.

Strawberry Jello Cake

~ Recipe ~

1 white cake mix

1 package strawberry jello

1 container topping like Cool Whip

I try to use a pan for this that is nice enough looking to serve in - like glass. Bake cake according to directions, let cool. Mix jello with 1 cup of warm water. Using a fork, make several holes in top of cake without going through and then pour jello over cake. Spread Cool Whip over it and refrigerate until chilled. Decorate the top with colored sugar crystals or fresh strawberries.

Another option is to thaw a package of frozen strawberries, and put a layer between the cake and the cool-whip.

Jello Jigglers

~ Classic Jello Recipe ~

2 1/2 cups boiling water (Do not add cold water.)

2 pkg. (8-serving size each) Jello of any flavor

Stir the jello into the boiling water until it is completely dissolved. Then pour mix into a 13x9-inch pan, and put into the refrigerator until firm. It should not stick to the touch.

Dip the bottom of the pan into warm water for about 15 seconds to loosen jello from bottom of pan. Using cookie cutters, or a butter knife, cut out the desired shapes. Lift shapes from the pan.
