Melting Pot Cuisine : New American Cuisine
Melting Pot Cuisine : New American Cuisine
I am an immigrant here in the United States living in Texas, so I am grateful that I have a lot of choices of restaurants to go to. I can go to Tex-Mex (combination of native, Mexican and Mexican - American food culture) Chinese, Mexicans or the barbecue -- grill restaurants and the Southwestern cuisine -- fried chicken and the likes. You can also go to Italian and other European restaurants of your choices. Subway incorporates fresh sandwiches ingredients.Pizzas are offered in different ingredients, like here in Texas, they have Mexican version -- Pizza Patron, Pizza Hut, Dominoes and Papa Johns.
The effort to incorporate food culture of immigrants is inevitable for business and cultural amalgamation and considerations.
Melting pot cuisine in the United States is gaining popularity because it offers different combination of food and people are curious and want to try food fusion recipes.
The New American Cuisine - what is it all about
So what is a melting pot cuisine? The melting pot cuisine is a cuisine which derives its food style and preparation from the combination of some cuisines of the people who migrated in the area. it is a known fact that when people migrate to an area, they bring with them styles of cooking and food culture, and when it is mixed with local ingredients and the food culture in the receiving area, there you go, we have a fusion food culture.
It is known that the United States attract immigrants from all over the world, and this is the basis for the new American cuisine. Some states which are magnets to immigrants like Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California try to find ways to integrate their combined tastes of food, the blending of the local foods with the migrants food, one case is the Tex-Mex here in Texas, wherein the food style, preparation and ingredients is a mixture of Mexican American foods and natives. Another type of fusion cuisine which integrates diverse food culture is the California cuisine developed in the 1970 by some chef and restaurant owners who feel that a fusion is needed to cater to all the tastes and gastronomical needs of the people in the area, natives and the immigrants.
What is the New American cuisine? it is the cuisine offered in many restaurants today across the United Sates but it definitely has its roots with California cuisine wherein a chef by the name of Wolfgang Puck thought about the fusion of food culture and so he created a menu served in restaurants for all those who are interested to eat fusion foods.
- Fusion foods integration implies the importance of fresh foods -- vegetables and spices which are fresh. it is somewhat similar to the Nouvelle French cuisine which is also a fusion of different food culture.
- It is a mixture of some food culture from Asia, Mexico and the Middle East plus to some extent European food culture
- The new American cuisine emerge in the 1980s after the fusion and the California cuisine emerged (forging the food culture from some countries)
