Quick, easy-to-make oatmeal breakfast

Your toddler refuses to eat? School going children are fussy eaters. After their morning chores they find no time to eat breakfast. They refuse to eat bread, chappathis, rotis, idli and dosa. Making kids drink a cup of oatmeal can do the job. Oatmeal with milk would make it delicious so that kids will like it.

Oatmeal improves kid’s memory and cognitive skills

Oatmeal does not impart a heavy rush of glucose into blood. This would encourage a better function of cognitive power. Child’s thinking power and memory would be positively affected here. Oatmeal with milk would be a good breakfast idea for school going children. Putting a spoonful of boast or horlicks would improve the taste of oat porridge with milk. Put it just before drinking. Certain children would like to put chocolate powder in oatmeal porridge. You can also think of adding banana chips and potato chips to oatmeal. Oatmeal porridge can be given to infants also. For infants, oats should be well powdered before preparing the porridge.

Oatmeal, a mild breakfast

Heavy breakfast would impart sleep in school going children. Recipes with sooji and dry recipes like puttu would impart tiredness in children as dry breakfast would absorb water and makes body feel tired. Avoid giving such foods to school going children. Oats, a fibrous food

Toddlers who include oatmeal in their diet would not face the problem of constipation. Cook aots in water. Add milk and cook for 2 minutes. Do not add sugar. Rather add dates (small pieces), dry grapes, honey, nuts and other dried fruits. Unlike carbohydrate rich foods, eating oats would not lead to sudden discharge glucose into body. This would help enhance memory and working of brain. Students can therefore make a habit of having oatmeal as breakfast. Oatmeal is also fat free. Oatmeal is thus a great food for people of all age groups.

Oatmeal porridge is the not the only oats recipe

Many of us think that porridge is the only oatmeal recipe. We often get bored with oatmeal porridge that we stop eating oats. Many are not aware that oats upma, oats pongal and oats biriyani are tasty oats recipes. Kids would like oats upma, especially when vegetables, dry fruits and ghee is added to it. Elderly people can consider oats pongal. Oats pongal would be good for kids also as we add dal while preparing pongal.

Oatmeal is for us big kids too; I love hot oatmeal in the morning, and it is so filling that it stays with me longer than most items I eat for breakfast.

      Well done!

My favorite oatmeal recipe is an oatmeal patty--a meat menu substitute for vegetarians. I agree that oatmeal is good in a variety of forms.

Well, you can call it oatmeal if you like but at OUR house-it is Three Bears Cereal. I fix it the same way epxect I add cinnamon to the boiling water. When done I top it with a pat of butter and a sprinkle of raw brown sugar for the girls. Would you believe that SweetCheeks always eats the sugar layer off first and asks for more?;>)I usually chop an apple & cinnamon up into the boiling water for myself-and sprinkle it with Truvia. So good!!!! xo Diana
