Sangria - a traditional Spanish alcoholic beverage
Sangria is one of the most popular beverages worldwide. It has spanish origins, but over time, this drink has gained new flavors and enhancements, along with its adoption by those who loved the taste. While sangria can be purchased from a shop, nothing can compare with a glass of homemade liquor. Sangria can be prepared from red, white, sparkling wine, according to preferences, but here are presented some white sangria recipes.
The classic White Sangria Recipe
Who does not know about the most popular drink of Spain, this wine-based punch that travel agents tempt its customers with when presenting a holiday in Ibiza? But who really knows its composition and meaning? For Sangria, in its primary meaning, is not just a wine mixed with fruit compote, but a splendid summer cocktail.
Sure that those also have their logic based on their fruity combination, but the classic white sangria recipe is based on white wine, paradoxically, as the very name of the drink, " sangria" resonates a bloody red thus making you think it's made of red wine. The best known version is still based on red wine and has won a mixed coloration due to the color of pomegranate juice, red orange or other fruit juices.
Ingredients:
- 1 bottle dry white wine, well chilled (750 ml)
- juice of a half orange
- 2 tablespoons sugar (preferably brown)
- 30 ml Cognac or Brandy
- 30 ml Cointreau
- half of a sliced orange, round, thin
- 1 lemon sliced thin
- 1 cup of mineral water or soda
- 2 cups ice
Preparation:
1. Mix orange juice, wine, sugar, cognac and Cointreau.
2.Add orange and lemon slices and chill well.
3. Serve cold in a jug, add the mineral water and ice.
White Sangria Recipe with Cinnamon
Ingredients:
750 ml white wine
250 ml orange juice
1 lemon
1 orange
1 cinnamon stick
1 tablespoon sugar
Cointreau liqueur or brandy
Preparation:
Mix wine, orange juice, sugar and sliced fruits and add a few drops of Cointreau or brandy and cinnamon. Serve cold.
White Sangria Recipe with Fruit Mix
Ingredients:
- a bottle of white wine, sweet
- 1 sliced lemon
- 1 sliced orange
- 1 sliced lime
- 1 peach cut into cubes
- 1 cup of strawberries, diced
- ½ cup lemon juice
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 shots peach liqueur
- 2 tablespoons chopped ginger
- ice
In a deep bowl pour the wine, and then spoil it with all the symphony of fruits listed above, plus sugar and lime juice. Cover it and let it rest overnight in refrigerator. If you want to serve the white sangria fruit mix immediately pour it into glasses that sat cold and add lots and lots of ice.
