Are there any foods which can help fight depression and SAD?
I know that eating a healthy diet and regular exercise can make a huge impact, but does anyone know of any particular foods that can help banish the blues?
Eat something healthy that you enjoy and go for a walk in a safe area: the mall, a park, down a safe street. Don't focus on negative things. Read a good book: Holy Bible, Christian books, adventurous books. Find a fun group; people in groups do better dealing wih depression. You have to want to overcome depression.
I have been experimenting with kefir cultures, both milk and water. The good feelings have been exceptionally positive. Like off the charts good. Also I have increased my chia seed intake. Also wrote a hub about Busting the Blues Naturally

How are people coping with depression without taking any pills? Pills for depression is not a great idea as they invariably come with side effects.
