Yes, but they can then be used as bricks. Just add mortar and you can build a waffle shed or a waffle storage box. Cover with syrup to attract insects.
I don't think so--they may not mold, but they sure wouldn't taste good and they probably would make you sick if you ate them--or maybe just break a tooth.
