What are the best substitutes to avoid eating junk food between-the-meals?
Fruit is the obvious one, but I find cereal bars keep the temptation away for longer.
Fruit, Cheese, Crackers or a few glasses of water wil usually suffice.
Fruit, Peanut Butter, protein shakes....healthy snacks such as slices of cheese/yogurt..
Fruit, especially dried fruit is easy to snack on. You could also try having nuts, which are really healthy to junk food. You could try cheese, or have thinly sliced carrot which makes a nice crunchy bite. Cheese definitely is a good substitute, as is also health food bars, though you need to check the sugar content in some of them because it can be rather high.
Protein is a good choice as it will keep you full (or at least not too hungry) for a longer period of time. Unsalted or lightly salted nuts, healthier protein bars, string cheese, dried fruit and nut mix are all good options. Kain 360 mentioned protein shakes - great suggestion. You can add fruit, protein powder, skim milk or almond milk, a touch of yogurt or honey for a nice tang...that should hold you until your next meal.

enjoyed your soy hub, i also think soy is the way to avoid eating so much animal protein,another question, how do you on your hubs at bottom put the heading of other hubs in catagories, how do you get the hub links in blue letters, when i put my hubs in text it shows the link not the name of it?...

I started trying to diet 3 days ago. Low calorie and low carb. I use to eat 2 full meals (oversized I'm sure) plus a full pot of coffee loaded with sugar and milk each morning.
