What goes well with BBQ leg of lamb?

What side dishes go well with a late lunch where I'll serve BBQ leg of lamb?  I'm looking for some easy dishes to prepare.

mint jelly.  It is the best.  We come from a long line of lamb eaters (for special occasions of course!) and the mint jelly must be on the table when the lamb is served.  The lamb also must be hot and steamy.  mm mm mmm...

Sweet Potato Fries, Asparagus, Chutney, Mint Jam, A good dry Beer or Ale, I think Wine won't cut it. If you want to get fancy, Kugel, or Potato Pancakes like is often served in Mid Europe. I would say beets from the can, heated or cold, except that I hate the taste of beets. If you slice the leg for an open sandwich, some cheese that doesn't overwhelm the taste of the Lamb will help, a brie or camembert. And of course the bread should be one that allows the lamb flavor to take charge, like an egg bread.  Whatever you do, you cannot ruin a BBQ Leg of Lamb so long as you allow it to not dry out. Slice it thin and a long cut.

My husband makes an awesone Sweet Potato Mash.

    - Roast the sweet potato in the oven at 350F for one hour
    - At the same time roast a garlic bulb drizzled with olive oil and covered with foil for 50mins
    - Scoop out the cooked potato and garlic cloves into a bowl
    - Mix in 1/3 cup mascpone cheese
    - Mix in 1-2 tablespoons of butter
    - Season with salt and pepper

Goes great with BBQ lamb..the garlic, sweet potato and mascapone are great complimentary flavours.

An easy and tasty salad dish to go with the BBQ leg of lamb is a tomato and cucumber salad (diced into small cubes) which only requires extra virgin olive oil, balsamic as well as red wine vinegar, a couple of cloves of garlic, pressed, some salt to taste, a few fresh leaves of basil and oregano herbs, chopped thinly and mixed together in a salad bowl.

Just let the garlic rest in the vinegars for about 10 minutes before mixing into the salad bowl as it'll take the 'edge' out of the garlic to give the salad a subtle taste.  Then mix the vinegars with the olive oil thoroughly before mixing in the diced tomatoes and cucumbers.

This goes really well with lamb and especially if BBQed.

I love leg of lamb with a red wine gravy, garlic and rosemary. Of course mint jelly is great too. An unusual dish that complements leg of lamb is roast pumpkin but any good roast vegetable dish works well too.

I like a previous answer about a Greek salad. But how about adding chipotle mashed potatoes and cornbread or corn fritters?

I'd agree that sweet potato fries would be perfect with this, but I'd cut them home fries style and roast them seasoned with salt and cumin.

not much to contribute that hasn't been said aside from I'm really hungry for a leg of lamb on the BBQ with some tasty sides, I do like sweet potatoes and asparagus for this tasty treat.
