Which peas should I grow to make mushy peas? How do I make them like chip shop mushy peas?
Had this lovely meal the other night using Lockwoods Mushy peas and just wondered if I am going to grow peas in my garden which ones make the best mushy peas?
Mushy peas are actually made from what are called dried marrowfat peas which you soak overnight before cooking with salt and sugar.
Marrowfat peas are just mature green peas that have been allowed to grow and then dry out naturally in the field.
You can get 1kg of Whitworth's Dried Marrowfat peas in Asda for just £1.48 so I'd recommend using your garden or allotment to grow garden peas which are very expensive to buy and buy your marrowfat peas.
