What are some good recipes for avocados?
Avocados are a healthy food but have a rather bland taste. My wife generally just slices the avocado and adds the slices to a tossed salad. They add nutrition but no real taste to the salad. Any other ways to prepare and serve avocados?
Mash them up with some garlic, thinly sliced onions, and lemon juice. Cilantro works well. Then you have a basic guacamole.
I like them with big tiger prawns and equal quantities of salad cream, tomato ketchup and a dash of cream. Mix it all up and halve the avocados and fill with prawn mixture....Yum!!
Guacamole is good. I add some serrano's to mine, I like spice...I also like to eat them by themselves....Get creative and try new things...that is the best way to see how you will like them..
My family enjoys them in salads so I add lemon, balsamic vinegar and black cracked pepper to add more flavour. Added spiced peppers to an avocado salad also spices things up.
Bland taste? Well, they are not spicy-- more buttery and creamy. Maybe you are not getting the good kind... or perhaps they are under-ripe?
My favorite way is to eat the slices mashed on whole wheat toast with a little salt and pepper. If you like it a little more spicy, dot with some Tabasco or Cholula hot sauce, or sprinkle on some curry powder.
My favorite ways to eat avocados besides guacamole with tortilla chips, are:
1 ) halved or sliced w/ lemon juice and a light sprinkling of seasoned salt.
2) In salad, I slice them and combine with butter lettuce and grapefruit sections then toss with a very small amount of sweet French or Russian dressing.
I simply slice them up and place them between slices of bread. I add doritos or sliced meatballs to the sandwich and it is very tasty.
In the Philippines, we mix the avocados with sugar and milk then add ice. Sometimes we just put sugar on top of it then we eat it. It looks gross to others but it's delicious for us.

Do you eat avocados?Avocados are very popular. Here in Puerto Rico, most people like to eat a slice of avocado with their food. Growing up, there were a couple avocado trees at my parents house (in fact, there still are), but the only one who ate avocado was my dad. He loves them.Still to this day...
