I use honey in smoothies... and actually in a lot of things. I tend to go for honey to sweeten food before sugar.

I have also been recommended to try Agave as a sweetener.

If I am sharing with my kids, I will put in a little organic Agave, but when I make them for just myself, the fruit is sweet enough for me.

We add honey, if necessary, but usually the fresh fruit is sweet enough as is.

For my smoothies, I used 3 different natural sweeteners, each at different times and for different smoothies. The natural sweeteners used in my smoothies are 1) a dash of pure whole cane sugar 2) little natural fruit juice and 3) few drops of authentic honey.
