Jello - in a cake recipe
Any shape will do
Fun and Fresh!!
Summer is for fun, picnics and sharing good times with family and friends. Well heck, any time of the year is good for that. But right now it is summer time and I have a wonderful cake recipe that is not only light, but refreshing and tasty!! I have used this for birthday cakes as well, my Dad loves both Orange and Lemon flavor, so rather that just 1 cake I was able to incorporate this into 1 cake.
simple round pans will work
This recipe is short and sweet - heavy on the sweet!!!
Supplies you will need
1 box of white cake mix (or yellow if you have it)
2 - 3 small boxes of your favorite gelatin flavor, Jello brand has some awesome summertime flavors
1 tub of whipped topping, I use the large tub (12 oz).
Utensils
Electric mixer
Spatulas or spoons
2 - 3 bowls
2 - 3 small round cake pans - greased and floured
Mix cake according to directions on box (I use whole eggs, no need for waste)
Divide cake into 2 or 3 bowls. Add one box of gelatin per bowl. Mixing well. Pour into prepared cake pans. Bake according to package directions.
Remove from oven and let cool for about 10 minutes. Take out of pans to finish cooling. When cool being layering, using whipped topping between each layer, ‘Frost’ the entire cake with topping. Decorate and take to that picnic you were invited to! It will be a hit!
Because of the heat I didn’t want to use the oven, so I used my toaster oven, this worked fine. The flavors I used this time were Watermelon and Strawberry Jello.
