KitchenAid Professional 600 | A Pastry Chefs Favorite Mixer

Updated on December 3, 2012

Kitchenaid Professional 600 Series Mixer

The KitchenAid professional series mixer is one of kitchenAid's top mixers in its class. It has been known as the Cadillac of stand mixers. It is a beautiful, large six quart mixer with 575 watts of power. Not only is this good but this mixer can handle large amounts of doughs, breads, batters, and many other foods.

Most kitchenAid mixers regardless on series last a very long time. KitchenAid has a standard and are very well know for lasting 30 or even 40 years for the home baker. As a professional pastry chef myself I love this mixer. I own one for my personal use and have used them in many restaurants.

KitchenAid Professional 600 Series Review

One of the top mixers available on the market

The KitchenAid Professional 600 Series Mixer is among the elite models in the Kitchenaid lineup. So what is so special about this model? Well for starters it is built with better parts than other models, such as all metal parts inside. Another great thing about this model compared to others is the extra large bowl. This bowl is six quarts and can handle almost 14 cups of flour. As a professional pastry chef myself, when I am not using the large floor mixers you really need to be able to rely on a mixer like this. Something small, powerful, and large enough for most jobs.

Overview

So what does the KitchenAid Professional 600 Series Mixer come with? Well it comes with a lot of cool stuff. Starting with my favorite the kitchenaid 600 comes with a dough hook. Not just any dough hook though, it comes with a spiral dough hook. This is very important for mixing doughs and it gives your dough a much better texture than it would get when using straight dough hooks. Also it comes with a wired whip and a paddle for beating cookies, sugars and butter, etc. The best thing this comes with though is the motor. The motor is 575 watts of raw power. That is great for professionals like myself who need that extra kick when making doughs and cookie batters.

The Good

So what are some of the good things about the KitchenAid professional 600 series mixer? Well my favorite part about this machine is that it is though, really touch. All the parts are metal on this machine so no annoying plastic piece in the mixer that is going to break on you. Also the bowl is a 6 quart bowl. What this means for you is if you are doing large batches of bakery items especially, there will be less time mixing and more time producing. Another benefit of this mixer and any KitchenAid mixer is the 10 speed system it has. This mixer itself takes that one step further and has a speed sensor on it. What that means is that if it senses it is working to hard in will slow itself down. This saves on wear and possible breakdowns.

The Bad

The only complaints I have with this mixer is that it is so darn loud. Other KitchenAid mixers are not loud like this. I really can not figure out why either. Maybe just because it has a direct drive motor or more power, but it is very loud. Other than that I really have no complaints. This is a great mixer that is full of power.

Final Verdict

Most people would agree that the KitchenAid Professional 600 Series Mixer is the best stand mixer in its class. KitchenAid is a long standing name in kitchen appliances. This would be a great investment for anyone who is serious about cooking and wants a mixer that will last a lifetime.
