Make A Low Cal/Low Carb Italian Style Pizza In 20 Minutes!

I'm only half Italian but I whole-heartedly LOVE pizza. It's a comfort food, a celebration food; and now it's a no guilt food! Give your friday nights a makeover with this beautiful pie. You won't mind staying in for this date night. Who knows what will happen after the movie. Hey, that's amore'!

The Perfect Pan For Your Personal Pan Pizza!

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Cook Time

Prep Time: 10

Total Time: 20

Serves: 1 or triple recipe to serve multiple people

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup quinoa flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon flax meal
  • 4 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 carrot cut into matchsticks
  • peeled or diced
  • 1/4 purple onion diced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon chinese 5 spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 5 cooked baby artichokes
  • 5 basil leaves
  • 1 teaspoon nutritional yeast fortified with vitamin B-12

Instructions

  1. Make Your Canvas: The Crust
  2. MIX:
  3. 1/2 cup quinoa flour
  4. 1 teaspoon baking powder
  5. 1 tablespoon flax meal
  6. 4 tablespoons water
  7. 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  8. 1/2 teaspoon parsley
  9. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  10. 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  11. COAT SKILLET with canola/olive oil or no calorie non stick spray
  12. WET HANDS and press dough into skillet
  13. COAT DOUGH with canola/olive oil or no calorie non stick spray
  14. BAKE at 350 degrees for 10 minutes
  15. SAUTE' TOPPINGS-
  16. While the crust is baking:
  17. Coat Carrots and onions in oil or non stick spray:
  18. Saute' in pan or....
  19. Cook for three minutes in the microwave.
  20. The carrots should be soft
  21. The onions should be soft and slightly opaque

Dress the pizza!

Spread:

1 teaspoon each of tomato paste and garlic paste onto the crust

Sprinkle:

1/2 teaspoon each of chinese 5 spice, garlic powder, salt, pepper

Layer:

carrots, purple onion, artichoke, fresh basil

OPTIONAL: Sprinkle Nutritional Yeast to add a cheesy flavor. Choose one that is fortified with Vitamin B-12.

Place the Pizza back in the oven and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes
