TV Shows--new, repeat, new again, more repeats! Dumb!

   Have you noticed that this year how often the television shows will show several new episodes...then go into repeat mode for several episodes and rewind and continue this trend?
   
   I hate this in TV programming. This is going on with all major networks such ABC,CBS and NBC. I have begun to watch more cable networks over the Big 3 because of this and the fact that Cable is now making new shoes and they are better.

      It seemed to happen to Lost during season 2. It literally seemed like there would be a new episode, and then two weeks of repeats, a new episode, another repeat, two new episodes, etc., etc. Thankfully, that's not happened since.
      
      Lost has been the only regular show I've watched, so I can say I've noticed it in the other networks, but it doesn't surprise me.

   I cant say ive noticed those trends cause i dont watch tv, but one trend we are all aware of im sure is the same old situations just different characters. Simpsons Family Guy, American Dad, even the Adams Family. Someone joins the race for mayor, one of the spouses cheat. It's the same with all the sitcoms and after a while it's just like whatever. Still, that's someone's job to make those shows so I dont hate anyone for it.

      yeah, you right about that.  in fact, even hanna barbara admitted that the flinstones was based off the original show the honeymooners.  Top cat was based off Hogan's heroes.  Therefore, your right.  It seems with most tv shows in general they tend to repeat themselves with the same ideas, just different scenarios.  However, that's why I'm always glad when I see a show that breaks that mold to dare to be original.  Like the Beavis & Butt-Head or Ren And Stimpy show for instance, as they at least try to be original back in the day.

   This trend started years ago...like the last 2-3 seasons of ER.  Makes me think it isn't worth it to watch TV if they can't air a complete season all at once.

      I meant to say that I can't say that I've noticed it on other networks; I literally only watch Lost (although after this Sunday, no more), so I CAN'T say about the other networks.
      
      It doesn't surprise me though, to be honest. I don't get Showtime or HBO, but am a fan of a couple of their shows (through Netflix), and boy do I love them.

   The reason I noticed it the most this season it I set the DVR on Tuesday nights for the 9 central time TV slot. There are 4 different shows that air the exact time I want to watch, but can only record 2 at a time and have to be watching the second one.
   So...I watch the local network shoes first and try to set DVR for the non-local networks for the repeat showing at 10 om central time.
   But...since Direct-TV went from TiVo to the DVR they have now...you get first run at 9pm only and cannot set record to 10 pm. DUMB!!!
   
   And..for some reason, when a show has a "REPEAT"...the DVR will record the repeat even though I am set-up for first run only.
   
   Makes me want to just buy a DVD Recorder and tell Direct-TV to shove their DVR!(if i can record more than one show at a time)

   I am so glad u brought this up!!! I also  cant stand how they started doing this and it seems to get worse each season. The office, Greys anatomy, Big Bang Theory and many more keep doing it. Its almost like 1 season feels like two because theyre so far apart in episodes!!

   Its a way to build suspence and keep veiwers demanding more! Also the reruns bring in money and help build for sindication. It doesnt get on my nersve but it doesn suck once in awhile.
