    It is final! Done.

Jason Garrett to replace Wade Phillips.

There still needs to be more done though. You could tell watching the game last night that Wade was a dejected man as coach of this team. The players were not following his lead.

There will be a TV announcement coming later this afternoon.

Thanks, I watched that and hopefully they will sort what is bugging them, lack of discipline, consensus, etc. Let us see whom Jones will hire after the season..

Looks like Jason Garrett is the new head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. The rest of the season will be a big test for him.  At one point he was the highest paid assistant coach and it was thought that it was good for Romo to have stability with the OC. I'm not sure that Dallas has the desire or the heart to play hard for Jason for the rest of the year. Tough job, but a heck of an opportunity.

Even if Jason Garrett becomes the head coach next year for the cowboys I doubt the cowboys will be super bowl bound any time soon.

I'm pretty sure that Garrett will be considered merely interim because Jones will have to comply with the Rooney Rule which basically requires the team to interview minority candidates. This will most likely occur in the off-season....

I'm surprised Jones even let him board the flight home after last night. Garrett won't be the next coach. My money is on Gruden.

I agree...Jason may not be ready for coaching but I do like his offensive play calling...Gruden would bring much needed attentiveness to the Cowboys...

I am hoping for Gruden. He had to promote from within right now because of the Rooney Rule.
This season is over  in reality. The rest of the Cowboy season should be about finding the players who want to really play football.  Get rid of the slackers, no matter how big their stardom is!

If I was Wade...I would taken a Greyhound ride home before getting on that plane with Jerry Jones. lol

I just noticed in an article that Wade Philips didn't fly home with the team, but was on a private plane with Jones after the Green Bay loss. So he actually didn't let him board the flight home. smile

It's too little too late for the Cowboys this season. I would assume Jerry Jones will hire Cowher or Gruden after the Super Bowl.

In SF, Gruden has been rumored to take over for Singletary. I don't see Cowher in Dallas, but don't think they will stick with Garrett.

Hit the Nail on the Head!!!   This team is about the owner Jerry Jones and his ego. JJ has to be the face of the Cowboys in his mind.

I lived in Dallas during the Jimmy Johnson glory years. I have seen recent footage of Jimmy standing up in the locker shouting "How about them Cowboys." The locker room of course erupted. Jimmy jumped down from the box he was standing on and the room kind of dispersed. If you watch Jerry you can tell he was wanting to address the room and when Jimmy jumped down he lost his chance and the look on his face foreshadowed all the doom that has occured since. He was mad....

JJ was just so involved he couldn't see the difference if he steps back.........

WooHoo! Da 'Boys are on a winning streak.  New Orleans, Indianapolis, Philly (2 times) are coming up.  Arizona and Washington also, maybe we can win a few more games.
