Spacing Pregnancies

   How long after having your first baby did you wait to have your second? If you have more children, how many years (or months!) are there between them?
   
   For example, between my son and daughter, there are two and a half years. My son was about 22 months old when I became pregnant with my daughter.

   We have almost 3 years gap between my older one and a younger one. It worked well for our family. I also know families where they didn't wait at all and have their children one year apart or less. A lot of hard work for mom but the kids seem to be close together.
   I waited longer because I wanted to give my firstborn time to grow a little more independent but even with 3 years gap my kids are well connected.

   I have 7 years 9 months between mine, so quite a large age gap.  None the less, they do act like siblings - ie. argue, fight, laugh and play together.

   I want some time between my first 2 but not too much time.. maybe 3 years.  Then after that probably at least another 3 year gap and if I have anymore after the 3rd they can be closer in age.  I eventually would like at least 4 or even 5 ..

   There is 2 years between my first and second child and then almost a 9 year gap between my second and third child. This has worked well for me as the two older girls love helping with their young sister.

   Seems like we have all had average spacing between our kids, more or less! Has anyone out there had only 15 or less months between? Just curious

      My two grandchildren have birthdays just 1 day apart - they are 8 and 9.  My sister and I are 1 year apart with birthdays 12 days apart.

   I'm only 11 months older than my brother, or, as my mom loves to tell it--10 months and 25 days, to be exact, lol...
   
   My older two kids are 15 months apart, then five years later, my youngest was born.
   
   I like the closeness my first two had--although they fought and all, they always had each other to play with as kids. 
   
   Our youngest one got lots of attention from them, which was great, but he was too much younger to be included in most of their activities, so he had to deal with that.
   
   It was definitely harder having the my daughter and son so close in age, when they were babies, but it was nice later, after they'd gotten a tad bit older, lol.

      I can see how it might be a bit harder to have two so close in age as babies--diapers, formula (if you use it), sleep deprivation..I'm glad it got better as they got older.
      
      My siblings and I had the same experience with my youngest brother. I was 20 when he was born! My youngest sister at that point was 10, so there was quite some space between even them. We doted on him like he was a toy, and he envied the activities we could do that he couldn't (like driving! lol).

         Oh yeah, two in diapers...CLOTH diapers, the kind that you had to fold to fit, lol.  I had stacks of diapers--one folded one way for my daughter, and another folded a different way for my newborn son...it was FUN! hahaha  But it sure spurred me on to get my daughter potty-trained!
