With the passing of Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, take a minute to share with your fellow Hubbers just what the Space Program has meant to you.

For those of you who were fortunate enough to be able to witness the moon landing, share your thoughts on the occasion.

For the younger generation, share your thoughts about what you think the first manned mission to Mars would be like.

I was born years after Neil walked on the moon, although I always imagined what it would be like, watching the Earth, the stars, and the surface in the vacuum, all those miles away.

The manned Mars landing will be amazing, yes, and we'll all be "ooohing and aaahing" here, but I don't think it will ever experience the romance of the first Moon landing.

I vividly remember it. My family and I had just moved to Canada from Scotland and were living with my aunt. I remember my cousin calling us into the room to watch it. Amazing stuff.

I was always into space in the 60s. Yuri Gagarin was one of my heroes smile

I like how space travel has become more international now and not just for Americans or Russians...

My family watched the live event in 1969 and it's a sight etched in my memory. Those astronauts were extremely brave and pioneers for space exploration. Imagine the thought of being stuck on the moon if things didn't work as planned.
    RIP Neil.

My memories of the landing in the moon by Neil Armstrong is very vivid even now 43 years later  as it was the day that my closest male cousin was born. We were  at home at my aunt's house with a small TV and my aunt was in the hospital going into labor and giving birth to my cousin who was aptly named Neil Armstrong Joseph Alviedo.Needless to say we were all glued to the TV set while my aunt was alone in the hospital room waiting for my cousin to be born. Not sure if this is coincidence as my cousin became a doctor and worked for NASA research.
