Not sure if I will be violating Hubpage rules with my white paper

    Hi all,

I am working for a big data company, and we are starting to write articles about how useful big data can be in a wide variety of industries. Our second article is about how big data can help bookmakers 'gain the edge'/ work out their odds better by spotting outside influences, for example if a football player was seen having an argument with his partner before a game, it might affect his performance.

When I had written up the title and summary, I got an automatic warning saying that the article looks like it is promoting gambling which is against Hubpages rules. Would you all see this as violating the rules? It is the same format as our first article which you can see on our profile and was featured, so I don't want to get banned/unpublished from the site.

    Many thanks

Email the team before you publish it and ask them to review it. Don't just take the advice of hubbers. I was recently told by a few on a forum that one of my hubs broke the rules, yet the team assessed it and told me it was fine - so it is currently published and receiving traffic.

If you get the ok from the hp team, you are good to go. If not, it will be time for Plan B.

      Good luck. smile

Thanks for the quick answer smile That's great, I'll do that then - thought I'd check with everyone before going further as I'm new to the site.

I wrote a Hub about basic Horse Betting Tips and Strategies.  I received the same warning about promoting gambling, and was curious, since there were already hubs published about Horse Betting Tips and Strategies by others . I contact HP, and they were fine with my Hub because it is general and is not promoting a specific Horse Betting Tip or Strategy service.  They do not want people writing hubs that promote or link to a betting service.  For example, a hub about the best betting strategy out there, go to this link to learn more.  That is a no no.

That's a great help, thank you. I'm thinking it should be fine now as it's not even promoting gambling at all, just talking about how situations can affect betting odds.
