Just sharing this amusing moment I got in 2017. I'm new to article writing so this comes as a surprise. I would always remember this as it brings both shocks and unexpected benefits.
I joined a Facebook groups of zealous believers and shared to them a hub mocking their belief. I said that whatever they believed in, which was only invented by man and did not exist sucks. To support my claims I presented them a listicle detailing its flaws. They are up in arms and some even braved my hub to troll it. One even blocked me after a heated discussion.
So, what did I wrote that offended them greatly?
Actually those bunch of believers are anime fans of a giant robot series. They got upset when I told them their hero needs a good tweaking. I'm not sure why they are so keen to waste their time debating over an anime character that doesn't exist, but at least I got a good traffic.
I won't forget that moment as it teaches me a lot. One is people nowadays are hypersensitive and their angst could benefit you.
(To those wondering, I'm a Catholic and I don't mock religions or race, and yes I could marry an atheist if she let me pray to my pal in peace).
Happy New Year Everyone!
How did someone block you on HP? I don't think it's doable. Personally, I write for atheists. Any religious comments are deleted. At this point, my point is made and I don't get religious traffic. My traffic comes from google - not hubpages.
I, too, am surprised at how some fandom followers can get their feathers ruffled so easily. Honestly, though, as a writer, you need a tough skin. Even successful writers, such as Steven King, J.K. Rowling, Nora Roberts, etc. have received harsh criticism and hate mail. But from the post, it looks like you have that part down. As they say, even negative publicity has great benefits sometimes. For fun you should write them a thank you note for bringing traffic to your hub. (cha-ching)
Happy New Year! May 2018 bring you joy and prosperity!

I can relate. A while ago someone linked my Spinditty Hub about the disastrous reception to KISS' 1978 solo albums in a Facebook group for KISS fans. It so happened that I was already a member of this group (though I didn't post the link, someone else did) so it was a unique opportunity for me to watch the reaction "from afar," so to speak.
...anyway, if you think Catholics or Anime fans are devout, they got nothin' on the KISS Army. Those MF'ers tore me up! Haha! They seemed especially incensed by my description of the entire affair as a "Fiasco" ...but how else would you describe printing up five millon records and then only selling one and a half million?
It was all very entertaining to observe, but also very hard to resist replying to some of the comments. I did somehow manage to keep myself out of the fray.
The extra traffic bump was a nice bonus too!
Oh yeah, certain bands have rather, errrr, fanatical fan bases, and when you poke'em with a stick, they go off!
One of my earliest Hubs was a not-very-positive review of Guns n' Roses' "Chinese Democracy" album, which wound up linked at an GnR fan forum. For about a week I had tons of angry Guns n Roses fans coming to tell me what an a**hole I was for not recognizing Axl Rose's unique work of utter genius. It was comedy gold
I don't think all publicity is good publicity and I especially don't think anyone needs to deliberately upset another person or group. I'm sure there is something you care about which others would think was silly too.
As far as religious beliefs, I'm an atheist Witch. I would not marry a serious Christian. But, I've already been married once and not keen on doing it again.

Did you know that the year 2017 carries the numerology value of "1"? When you break the number down and add the integers together, you get the number 1 (2+0+1+7=10, then 1+0= 1).The number one, according to numerologists, is a leadership number. So, the year, in effect, carries the...

I have a series of 3 hubs on a topic. I originally labeled them as parts I,II and III.However, I have since learned that such a device is not to the liking of either HP or Google.I started to edit them, one at a time, and found some awkwardness (I must have written while I was tired), and...
