Get into the bible. Most people search and search for good reading material and for something that will make an impact in thier life. Pick up a bible and get into Gods word.

I agree that the Bible is a good read -specifically, the Pentateuch, Daniel, The Gospels, and Revelations.
I'm currently reading The Plague by Albert Camus.  The Day of the Barbarians by Alessandro Barbero, The People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn...oh boy and lots more that I've been reading on and off for a while, like Crime and Punishment.

I generally have a couple of books going all the time. Currently I'm reading period pieces.

Blue Eyed Devil, by Robert B. Parker. Haven't read many westerns since I was kid, but Parker brings his well polished dialogue approach to a pair of gun fighters in Appaloosa. Parker gets more exposition out of fewer words than most authors.

Farewell, My Lovely, by Raymond Chandler. Spotted this 1940 mystery on the Library shelf, and decided it was time for a revisit. Glad I did. The scenes and language are right out of the 40's, but his prose still resonates.

I just finished "The Girl Who Played With Fire." Now, I'm reading "Eat, Pray, Love." Next, I plan to read "The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest."

Like several others answering here, I'm finally reading The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and then I plan to read the other 2 books in that series.  I picked it because I see people reading it everywhere I go, and I had to find out what all the hype was about.  It had a slow start, but I recommend it (so far).
