Ok, I'm 52 years old but with an open mind. I'm listening to Muse live. Tell me why they don't suck?

I mean don't they? They try so hard and fail miserably in every "song." They should just leave it to Radiohead....

I'm going to have to agree with Radiohead!  Muse has a different sound, and they are talented for sure. Live can make a difference between the men and the boys.

I haven't thought about Radiohead since 1997, I remember that song, Creep!

Ok... so now I'm watching "Shine a LIght" which is a Martin Scorsese documentary about a Rolling Stones concert... that's where I'm coming from... real.... music... with melody's and lyrics that are deep but not forced....

It depends on what time you're listening to them from. If it's there last tour then yes, they do suck. Their entire last album sucked. They've made their stage more impressive than their performance and never play anything other than singles anymore. Go back a few years to their first time headlining Glastonbury or watch them play at Pinkpop and you'll hear an amazing performance. Watching them vs. listening to them also helps even with their older shows. They have so much energy while playing that it's hard not to find something you like. Comparing them to Radiohead is a long shot though. You could compare their first album to Pablo Honey but after that they both took completely different directions. The only thing that they have in common anymore is Thom Yorke and Matthew Bellamy both use falsetto quite often and as far as that goes yes, Thom Yorke does do it better.

I must say that I really disagree with you. Muse don't suck at all! Muse is one of my favorite band and the music they make is really amazing and inspirational. Mathew is for sure one of the best singers out there and for sure one of the best guitar players in the world. He makes an amazing music and beautiful lyrics.

As a musician I adore Muse and give them all thumbs up! They're great and I respect them and the music they make.

And I also love Radiohead. They're great band also. But I don't think that Muse should just leave it to the Radiohead. This isn't really the point of music. If every musician would just leave it to its influence or some more known band than there weren't much music out there....

So no, I don't think Muse suck at all!

I'm 62 with an open mind, and listen to everything from Beethoven to the Sex Pistols, I've never heard of Muse so I just had a listen on google, I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to them, in the same way that I used to go out of my way in the 60s for, say, the Stones, and the Beatles, and Bob Dylan... But, they seem to be fairly good musicians and they certainly don't suck.  I think in life, far too many people confuse like and dislike with good and bad.
Is it that you don't like them and so think they are bad?  I dislike most of Bach, does that make most of his music, bad, I love the Sex Pistols, does that make their music, good?
