YES, I used to have migraines all the time, later I found out how to get rid of them. I drank coffee, maybe a couple of cups, I ate some form of sugar, a candy bar. and maybe some aspirin or Ibuprofen This needs to be done, before you reach the state of nausea or vomiting.Usually that will take care of the migraine. when the headache goes away then eat something.like a sandwich with some form of protein, milk or juice. Its a good idea to take your blood pressure, at the same time. If the migraines reoccur, see the doctor, to rule out brain tumors, low blood sugar or high blood pressure.
Hi, i get very bad migraines. Most of the time, i feel them coming on. As the years go by dealing with them, you know them like your best friend.
Stay away from bright lights, especially fluro lights. Where very good sunglasses outside. squinting to much tends to set them off.
If you are a big coffee drinker, then cut down a bit. On the other side of it - if you are trying to quit coffee, don't do it cold turkey - that will set a migraine off.
Try rubbing peppermint oil, on your forehead, between the eyes and your temples. It does work.
My favourite - the boiling hot shower! Let that hot water run on your head and neck, for at least 20 mins. Just relax and enjoy.
Hope some of this helps for you
I fully agree with skellie. I too suffer from migraine headaches, and I use the same methods. Instead of peppermint oil, I use Vicks vaporub at the onset of a migraine, followed by hot water shower.
Prevention methods include avoiding chocolate, cheese, and any other food items that trigger a migraine. You have to observe which particular food items are triggering a migraine to you. It varies from person to person. Sufficient sleep, proper rest, regular exercises, stress-free life , avoiding walking in the sun, noise etc are other preventive measures.
I saw a hub here which may be of some help to you.

Unfortunatly I have not found a way to control mine once one hits. So I usually combat them from ever starting or before a bad one hits with excedrine migrane.

I am suffering from migraine since a long time. My doctor at http://myhhchiro.com/ had suggested me some tips, which have helped me a lot in preventing the problem. I am discussing a few tips here.
1. Know what triggers your migraine: Besides stress and inadequate sleep, food items like are chocolate, caffeine, cheese, MSG, alcohol and bacon can trigger migraine. Pay close attention to your body and take note of what seems to cause your headaches.
2. Maintain regular sleep patterns: If you want to prevent migraines, work really hard to go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day.
3. Don’t skip meals: Eat healthy, nutritious foods an avoid getting too hungry or too full.
4. Avoid stress: Avoid situations that you know bring on a great deal of stress, and figure out ways to calm yourself down.
