   Do you really feel that India is all about poor and hungry people ?
   
   I was watching a movie one fine day. In the movie, a guy from USA comes and visits Dhobighat in Mumbai [a place where collectively clothes are cleaned] and some guy asks him why did he come to India ? And, this person from USA says he came to see hungry and poor people in India.....

   He can find hungry and poor people anywhere in the world. He need not to travel too far for this. several European countries have poverty. As far as hunger and power in India is concern, one must appreciate Indians who have progressed so far despite such a high population density. Our struggle against corruption is continuing and people in other countries taking a clue from India has initiated the fight against corruption. Most unfortunate situation is - our politicians are concerned with vote politics only and that has ruined the India.

   Wonder why we don't take a look at the positive sides???
   
   India is the BPO hub of the world.
   Most intelligent crowd in the world.
   Pharmaceuticals  fundamentals were developed long ago in our country in Vedas and Granths.People are using them to apply in developing more effective medicines today.
   Tell me about  a country which doesn't have corruption. US, UK, Russia, China..name them and I can give you the facts which can make you wonder if we are as corrupt.
   We are one of the fastest evolving countries in the world.
   During the recession, few years back, India was not affected as much where superpowers' economies were almost scattered
   
   There is lot more then these. Search on net, go through the books, watch documentaries. Then i wonder if you will ask this question. No wonder we are way to advance and developed then other countries.

   Hungry and poor people can be found anywhere in the world. My daughter stays in Florida, U.S. Even there she finds well dressed beggars who approach you with a hat and ask for alms. There are people who even pick up food dropped in trash bins across the road.
   As far as the people living in shanties in India are concerned it is a mistake to regard all of them as poor. Most of them are there by choice and due to opportunities of getting a good return from builders whenever their shanties are taken up for development. Many of them are millionairess and have lucrative investments and good jobs too. What is seen as poverty is a lifestyle of some people over here.
   This is not to deny the fact that there is poverty or hunger in India. Real hunger and poverty is to be found in rural areas of India.
   In the U.S. Red Indians live in worse situations than the poorest of poor of India. Who showcases them? The U.S. is even not prepared to report on the topic or problems faced by Red Indians. Are they not citizens of the great super power called the U.S.? Westerners wish to fight for human rights all over the world totally forgetting that human right violations are taking place in their own great countries.
   Instead of showcasing poverty and hunger of India these tourists will do well spending a few months among the Reservations of Red Indians and make short documentaries on them so that the world comes to know about a part of the U.S. which is worse than any third world country.

   I'm loathed to believe that there is no poverty in India. Even those who living in the Shanti towns are poor. If they were simply living like that to occupy land until it is bought up by developers that would be illegal. Yes their is wealth in India but I think there is poverty their too. But we have to admit that over the past 20 years particularly India's government has tired to wage a war on poverty. Yes there will be the cunning ones who are rich but live as poor. But I'm sure that there are many who are authentically poor who have little or no agenda..
   When I visit India I think it makes me happy to see the progress that is going on there. Indians have performed well in the world of education, many are now able to seek and get rewarding jobs inside India.
   Maybe there was a whole lot of poverty in India after independence given that the British has colonialised all of India's resources. When the British Raj granted India independence India had to begin its journey into providing for its population. The country has made good progress since the British left.
   I still believe that in 50 years from now India will become on of the best places in the world to live and work. And I'm sure that in time and it may take a while yet, the nation of India will have shaken off it's tag of poor nation altogether.
