What are the best spots to teach a teenager to drive?

Ok, its been a minute since I learned to drive. I have to teach my baby sister to drive, she will be getting her permit on Monday. I took her out today (sn she drove an automatic with one foot on the break and one on the gas as if it was a stick, lol.) I explained to her you drive with one foot and its the right foot. She listened but gave me a look like her logic was better. Any tips?

A secluded park or a college/highschool parking lot. It's where my family has always taught my siblings.

Thanks I was a bit frightened at the thought and when I saw her put one foot on the break and one on the gas I think I went into panic mode. I will definitely try this. Thanks again!

well my siblings and I were taught to drive in the middle of a cow pasture where there was no chance of hitting another car and very little chance of wrecking at all.

While this sounds like a good idea, my mom grew up in the country and they had horror stories about the dangers of the cow pasture or cow hole and what fun they had that could have costed them their lives. Thanks might possibly try it.

Yes, the bull holes can leave a nasty mark and I have had my share of bumps and bruises as a very much country girl but the experience of growing up on a ranch was totally worth it all

My first question is why does this task fall to you, an admittedly new driver?  That is a huge responsibility.

I would set rules first.  Tell her it is your way or not at all. That includes driving using the right foot only in an automatic.  If she wants to learn to drive, you have the upper hand in getting her to cooperate.

When I taught my daughters we went to all the parking lots that were vacant.  Church parking lots generally are vacant during the week,,
