   Do you think Romney's outright lies strategy cost him his candidacy?
   
   Even his hometown didn't vote for him and I just don't understand why Republicans chose him when they disqualified him as a vice presidential candidate in the first place.While I was watching the 'Game Change' movie, I had the gut feeling that Romney is going to have the same fate as John McCain. His 'mantra' did not work simply because he did didn't have a concrete platform and thinks that a quick fix for certain resuscitation could be the ultimate solution. To all the Romney voters, "Ignorance is no excuse".

   Let's stop. The election is over.  And Obama will be in office for 4 more years.  It is time to stop speculating and move forward.

      Even if the election is over and I know that the Republicans feel miserable that they lost two elections in a row. Don't U think there's something wrong with the people behind this party or is just the candidates themselves?

      GOP needs to start re-learning how to govern.  Offer ideas not just become a roadblock.  And get off the extreme social issues.

   The Republican party has to take it’s party back from the “tea party”group.
   There was no room to include (moderate Republicans) in the current platform especially with regard to social issues. Romney also made some huge mistakes early on that came back to bite him such as being against the auto bail-out. (Ohio is a state where 1 in 8 people are employed due to the auto industry). Latinos are among the fastest growing demographic in the nation and he lost 71% of their vote with his “self-deportation” comments.
   He talked about getting rid of FEMA and then we had Hurricane Sandy come along. The states of NY and NJ were grateful to get Federal Government help through FEMA.
   He said he would get rid of Planned Parenthood and was against the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act which caused him to lose the majority of women voters. He was against equality of “Same Sex Marriages” which probably alienated any gay Republicans.
   He was not a fan of current student loan arrangements which hurt him with the youth. Factory workers did not identify with him and blamed his history of out-sourcing for their job losses. The black vote has been Democrat for over 50 years, there was no shot there.
   Romney (lost in every possible demographic except the older white male voters).
   No one is going to get elected by appealing to (only one segment) of the country. You also can’t win the presidency strictly because there is a vocal crowd that hates the other guy. You have to present your plan and not change it every time you get in front of a camera. Last but not least his party was never fully in his corner. He was a candidate they got stuck with.
   If the Republican party does not learn to adapt and find a way to become more “inclusive” it is in danger of becoming a dinosaur party. The 1950s aren’t coming back.

   Surely the "Jeep Moving to China" lie cost him votes in Ohio.   He lost MA, NH and even Ryan's state Wisconsin.  Basically the people who know him best - rejected him.  That should tell you something. But the Mormon's in Utah (and the Olympics state) stood by him.   
   
   But on the other hand surely voters were voting FOR Obama not against Romney.  They were voting for the Affordable Healthcare Act, for the middle class, for equal rights for women, minorities and gays.  For union bargaining rights, investments in alternative energy, for dealing with climate change, for less war, for honesty, for moderate supreme court nominations, for choice etc.

   I truly believe Romney lost this election because he consistently showed an inability to make good decisions on many fronts.  He simply was not the man for the job, but unfortunately, he was the best the Republicans had to offer at the time.

   one of the reasons romney captured the nomination is the problem with primary systems (or other 3+ way races ) in which the most favored candidate doesn't always win.  eg, A beats B and C, even though most people would prefer B or C over A  one solution to this is proportional voting in which you list your candidates in order of preference.
   
   in addition, the republican party has become so extreme that it's difficult for anyone who would appeal to the middle to be successful in the primaries, so the ultimate candidate is either an extremist, or has to pretend to be one as  romney did thruout the primaries.

      Very true.  GOP ended up with a faux extremist instead of a real one like Santorum.
