   Did someone ever give you a piece of jewelry that you treasure but don't usually wear?
   
   We have many people in our lives who we love. Many of them find a special piece of jewelry or decide to give a family treasure as a gift. It means a lot and has sentimental value, but for one reason or another we don't wear it. Any thoughts?

   Yes. I don't generally wear jewelry including a wedding ring, but I have several pieces that were given to me that have huge sentimental value. I'm not sure why I don't wear it, I just never think of it.  I have a beautiful bracelet that a friend of my mother's gave me for HS graduation in 69, my wedding ring, and a tennis bracelet my employers gave me for Christmas a few years ago (which I can't actually find right now.)  I don't even own a jewelry box so I don't have much but I just never think about wearing any of it.

   all my jewelries are given to me by a special person in my life, my vest and I don't wear it. I really wanted to too but the thought that I will lose it kinda scary. I lose one lock of my earrings one time, another one is the heart key pendant. But I found the pendant 4 hours later at the mall where we shopped. Isnt it a miracle? i think its really meant for me. I spend the 4 hours regretting and crying and when i found it, i promised that i would just keep it on its box. scary to lose something like that, expensive or not, they are my priceless treasures.

      Ah! I had not thought about it that way, spy. Yes, I see exactly what you mean, that the potential for loss of something dear can easily happen from breakage, losing down a drain, in a mall or even having something stolen. This is true. I have had a

   There are a few treasured pieces of jewelry that I constantly wear; wedding ring and bachelor's ring. But earrings and necklaces, I have plenty of jewelry that I adore and treasure but never wear. Most importantly is my grandmother's ring. It even has a special place in my bathroom.

      Iburmaster - I think it would be hard to part with the heirloom jewelry, as we might want to hand it down the generations. In the future someone might wear the item or reset a gem, etc. Saving it in a prominent place instead of wearing makes treasure

   My mom surprised me with this delicate snowflake necklace that I'd eyed in a store one day. She gave it to me for Christmas. I adore it! I do wear it sometimes, but 1) it only looks right in the winter seasons, and 2) I fear losing it by it breaking and falling off - I know this is paranoid, but I would be so sad if anything happened to this necklace that I end up not wearing it frequently.

      Dear Amanda - I'm wondering if this is the most common reason why people don't wear treasured jewelry? I have certainly felt this way about a ring.
