Can my sister call animal control on my cat just because she is mad at me.?
She use to pet him and even helped look for him when he was lost for a week. Now she's upset at me, and is mean to my cat, saying she's calling animal control today. I've had him since he was born . we just moved back home after my mom passed. He's 2 yes old, fixed, and stays at my side always, he's so mellow. Can someone do that ? And get away with it.
I suppose it's possible but it would certainly be a major dick move.
Tell your sister that she's only wasting time and resources that could go to animals that are actually in need of help. They'll come take a look at your (presumably) fine living conditions and healthy cat and do absolutely nothing about it, and it will ultimately not affect you at all, so it's a pretty bad way to "get back" at someone. Again, it's the animals actually in need of help that could suffer.
If she's mad at you then she should be a grown-up and deal with it by talking to you/addressing her feelings rather than trying to hurt you.
@Aimee Thank you for responding, I share the same thoughts as you , It's comforting and reassuring ,,, I love my cat , I love animals, and it takes a very mean and cruel person to go after an innocent ,and defenseless animal . Again Thank you...
This is a nasty, unnecessary thing to do......worse, since your own sister is being unreasonably mean. I suppose she can't be stopped from calling but I doubt anything will come of it. You are a good cat-Mom and anyone who would investigate will see you care for your fur baby & feed it well, etc.
This is an unfortunate situation. I'm sorry you obviously got shirt-changed in the "sister" dept. She's immature & vindictive. Animal control may suggest she have a rabies booster............Paula
Loved your comment Paula, Thank You. I am a good Cat mom and he is healthy, neutered and vaccinated,,, He acts more like a dog than a cat, he's just amazing,,,, but I think the rabies booster is to easy she needs to be euthanized,,, just kidding..
I don't know what animal control is like where you live, but here, an animal has to be running loose, or pose a threat to humans, before they do anything. So, she can call, but unless she can show proof that the cat has mauled her, they won't even bother coming to your home.
Also, most animal control departments are overworked and understaffed, so they last thing they need is someone calling them for nothing.
The one thing I noticed in your statement was that you didn't say the cat had been vaccinated. In all the states I've lived in pets had to be vaccinated against rabies. If your sister calls animal control and they come to the house they will probably ask for proof that the cat has been vaccinated. If he hasn't they will probably give you a fixed amount of time to get the vaccination but they could have a more aggressive stance. Whether your sister is right or wrong in her calling of animal control you need to protect your pet family and get him vaccinated.

Are you a CAT person or a DOG person??I love all animals and adore little kitties when I see them, but there's just something I've always prefered about doggies. So I am therefore declaring myself as a "dog person"! Maybe it's because my family has always had dogs and no cats... So what...
