This past week has seen the destruction of our society due to a single bad act by 4 policemen. As bad as the pandemic of the Coronavirus, killing over 100,000 of our citizens, and destroying our booming economy, it has not caused us to lose faith in our fellow citizens. In fact, it brought out the the best of us trying to help others under such difficult circumstance, fighting an unknown enemy.
The current riots and looting and fire bombs and destruction of property and businesses and police precincts has brought out the worst of us.
It has destroyed our faith in some of our local governments and elected officials. If they can't keep us safe, what good are they?
What to do when the police do not protect the people? One town in northern Idaho has the answer:

What a great news video! I've always enjoyed when I visited Idaho. I think it's an outdoorsman's paradise.
It's an example of good people with guns maintaining law and order.
Is it required to have the ammunition stored separately from the weapon? That's the way it is is many states. Good way to keep burning and looting from occurring.
Not sure about ammunition being stored separately. There ARE rules about storage, but I'm not familiar with them.
I very highly doubt that it is illegal to carry a loaded weapon, though - that would defeat the whole purpose of the "carry" laws.
As proven time and again, the 2nd Amendment is more important than ever, in this time of unrest...why do liberal politicians don't understand this? they are part of the problem and never the solution.
One of my HP friends that lives in Norther Idaho was watching a FB Live last night. One of the armed guys approached the protesters and said “We are here to keep you safe.” They asked who he was. “I am Idaho”, he said.
Could there be a better response? Makes me proud of my state and it's people.
Well hell, in for a penny, in for a pound, I might as well catch some more hell
Your quote, "I am Idaho" fit my bias, so I asked Google to tell me more about it.
After multiple reports from different sources, the bottom-line seemed the same; a bunch of folks, (probably some yahoos among them), showed up armed to the teeth. Time and again their statements were; they are there to protect against looting, and, to protect the peaceful protesters' Right to protest.
It seems that it turned out, in Coeur d'Alene, there were peaceful protests, but no shots fired, no armed confrontations, and, no looting or violence.
My bias may be confirmed, but I think it is the correct bias to have on this issue.
GA
That's the story I'm getting from friends and family that live in the area. A bunch of rednecks, armed to the teeth (and from the pictures "armed to the teeth" doesn't do it justice), took a walk about town last night. They interacted with protesters just fine, and in spite of information that bus loads of instigators were on the way over from nearby Spokane (where there was rioting the night before) the night passed peacefully in Coeur D' Alene. The threat (and knowing the area, it was definitely a threat not even thinly veiled but right out in the open) accomplished the goal. If you didn't see it, I posted a link from the local news outlet earlier in the thread.
(This is the same area that took down a large enclave of White Supremacists a few years ago. They don't want that sort, either! No guns that time - purely in the courts)
Now let's tickle our imaginations with a similar response in NY, LA, or DC.
GA
Well, the citizens could show up with BB guns, squirt guns and pea shooters. Maybe a slingshot or two. Not sure how much it would have helped, seeing the videos of rioters viciously yanking a girl from in front of a store or attacking a woman in a wheelchair trying to prevent them from entering, though.
It's the difference between giving government total responsibility for your safety and being willing to take some of the load yourself. The difference between the nanny state and "I'll take care of this little problem!".

Why do you think looters believe what they steal is owed to them?Recent looters in New York, after Hurricane Sandy's destruction, were interviewed and asked why they looted? They replied, "I got back what was owed to me."
