There was a time where there were countless platforms like HubPages. Things have somehow. It seems that Hubpages is the last of its kind alive. Or is there any other platform you're writing on?
I have some book reviews on constant content which make me the odd few bucks here and there. I leave them 'on the market stall' and occasionally one gets sold. HP is still by far the best and most accessible site for writers who want to earn.
None. Give HP first shot; if refused, do own website. I have discovered that Google loves what QAP declines.
I article write good but reject QAP got. Love Google this?
Even now Das is in his secret lair writing an article "Why Yoda Cannot Meet Hubpages Excessive Standards".
There are a few other platforms still surviving but I don't know of any that are making money for their writers, apart from Medium.com.
I still have some articles on Wizzley, I make an occasional Amazon sale or get the once a quarter Adsense click.
I also have stuff on Wizzley. I even put some stuff on there recently that didn't work here. My reasoning was, since I still have an Adsense account that I don't use here I might as well put content somewhere where Adsense is still used and still get at least some trickles of earnings. If I decide to start my own site again, maybe I'll put some Adsense on it.
A couple over the past few months. But I just put most of the new content on there this month. Maybe traffic will eventually grow for those articles. Strangely, some of those articles I have there get some traffic.
Another part of my reasoning for putting articles there for Adsense is that the site does have some age. I figure if I try to throw up a Blogger blog or start my own self-hosted site for some old artilces, it'd take more time to age and I'd probably not get any organic traffic for awhile.
If you stick to a niche you would do better than Wizzley. But it seems to be working for you.
I actually had a few "niche" sites for years. Mostly they never panned out to make much money. One of them got okay traffic and another one made pretty good Amazon sales, but none of it was enough to write home about. The best was the one that made Amazon sales, but unfortunately the items that sold were not very high-priced so my earnings were, you know, the kind they say will pay a bill or buy some groceries.
Strangely, one of the sites I had was a martial arts site, and that's an area for which I actually have expertise; it was the worst in terms of earnings and traffic. I learned at that point that some subject matter just doesn't cut it for the Internet. Martial arts is a thing people do, not read about on the Web.
If I were to attempt having a "niche" site again, I'd approach it differently. It's not just about what you know and certainly not about writing about "what you love".
When you say stick to a niche, are you talking about doing it here at HP or starting my own self-hosted sites?
Edit: Actually, I just re-read our comments, looks like you meant in terms of me starting my own sites.
I have reviewed this thread. Do you want the truth? You will not find it here. I can give clues, but not in the mood, but you know me, future.
I have written an article about all this crap; sorry, no link provided.
Based on what I have seen on my website, spamming still works. I get buried in it every day.
Got to be honest here. one of 10 let slide; they are directly on topic and not in foreign language.
There's your first clue, only do on dead articles.
I have not forgotten my Maven thread, but it seems to be gone now.

Does anyone know any other site similar to Hubpages? I'm starting to like this site and I'm realizing that it's really better than all the other sites so, it would be nice to find another similar site.Anyone?

Here's an announcement (dated Aug 11) from Harlow-McGaw, the owners of Daily Two Cents, Writedge, and other sites:"It saddens us to say we will be shutting down all our sites at the end of the month. We just can no longer afford to keep them going at a loss since we have so few active writers...

Hi MickiIf you've noticed I've not written any hubs recently, I'm on my vacations from University and thought of doing a 30 hubs in 30 days challenge. Rather, I've gone for a 30 Wizzley articles in 30 days - for a good reason: Their amazon Capsules are way better formatted - users feel like...

I just joined Niume and created my first post. Very, very surprised to see all the sharing buttons! I'm guessing this means sharing is not considered duplicate content. I really like the platform, so easy to use! Can't wait to create more posts. Much easier than...

I never thought I would ask that but having just looked at the large number of hubs now classified as Idle in my account why should I write any more, and what am I do with all of those already here? A lot of them are good quality writings I know because they had previously been published in hard...

HubPages keeps on idling perfectly good hubs about all sorts of topics including places to visit in Tenerife, Uri Geller, Flying Saucers, and even about the late Syd Barrett, who was the genius behind Pink Floyd in the beginning. I suppose the argument would be that he died a while back and...
