whilst americans are saying its unfair to provide healthcare to all.... think about those in haiti, lost their homes, their jobs, their businesses and an exhert from a journalist on the ground in Haiti.... "Laborde checked on Rodney Patrick, who was shot three times in the back by thieves. His odds of survival are slim, unless Laborde can get him evacuated to a hospital in America, a feat he doesn’t think he will be able to pull off."
Whilst republicans are sporting signs about brown and brownings, there are people not far from you fighting for their existence. Many would have had their own homes and businesses... natural disaster does not pick race, suburb, income or who you vote for, but you cant pay health insurance if youve no home or income... so think about how this could happen to someone you know or your family - and after chicago and new orleans, you should all be aware of how devistating things can be.
Right, you can't pay for health care unless you have income or a JOB!!
The best way to get people insured, is to get them employed. The best way to get people employed is to stop punishing savings and investment, stop taxing and spending and stop regulating business out of the country!
What they really need to do is get rid of lobbyists. This right here would cure more than just health care. Lobby = legalized bribery.
It's not the lobbies that are bad, it's the politicians! There's plenty of good lobbies like NTU, or the Tea Party even! What we need to do is elect people with principles that ask themselves the questions, "Will this enhance freedom?" and "Is this constitutional?" That and term limits.
Even if you elect someone with principals, they will eventually lose them.
thats the next step I think for all with politics, we all understand the media grab now and the spin that they use...time to bring it back to basics a little, rather than serving select politicians interest groups.
you missed my point. You are thinking in economic terms. If you understand economics, it is an abstract. We can make our systems work for us. The flows and ebbs are part of business cycles, I am talking about humanity, not labour economics.
Economics and humanity are tied together. The more prosperous a people are, the more excess they have to share with those less fortunate. We all have fixed expenses, what ever we earn beyond that can be spent or saved at our discretion. Taxes are for the most part a fixed expense. If income remains the same and taxes rise, there's less discretionary money since rising taxes will affect the price of everything.
It's better to have greater employment, because you can increase tax revenues without increasing taxes and the more people with jobs the more people will be covered by health insurance and the more discretionary money is available to contribute to help the less fortunate.
Yes I understand the economy moves in cycles, but government interference through regulation can distort those cycles, that's why it's best to maintain a free marketplace where the collective participants control it by their own behaviour.
He wasn’t sure he could save three-month-old Dedumes Christiano. She developed a rash most likely caused by an infectious disease. (See the doctor in action with the baby here.)
The lack of aid reaching the Haitian people is a crime against humanity, according to Laborde. He is watching people die who he could easily have cured....
Laborde is a US Dr from Oshner,New Orleans.
I think the main opposition is that they will be forced to buy healthcare insurance in 2014.
But, if you earn less than 400% of the poverty level, you will receive credits to pay for/help pay for this insurance.
and you might be right on some levels. The global market has been used by large corporations to seek out lower cost alternatives and the finance industry works for those who understand the effects of 100th of a percentage point in interest rates. Not the average mortgage holder.
Yet considering what has happened with the USA and corporate management, maybe this is a time to work through accountability in management etc..
Creating jobs can be cyclical, yet opportunities can be created. Im not sure about the US market, but we are doing ok here. Job growth has slown, but not halted and sometimes you have to look at other factors that underpin why the market is not working as you desire it to. Fix the underlying factors and you can make better longterm outcomes.
I wonder how my son, who earned approx. $4500 in 8 months last year, is going to pay for health insurance if I am still unemployed and needing the assistance of his income?
When this Bill comes into full effect.....you and he will be fined and be the target of the IRS.
Everyone knows what that means. Paying Insurance is more important than creating jobs. Oops, my bad...jobs are created for insurance agents, underwriters, IRS.
hopefully this will create jobs like a business cycle.. thats what the gst in australia when we were in a bit of a recession did, it kicked started a business cycle indirectly by businesses having to pay to change cash registers, accountants and software packages even price tags...
if this works well you will get a business cycle out of it and increase jobs, economic growth is based on velocity of money, not how much you have in your hand.
and if your on a low income, I would check the details, as I understand that you should be covered at little or no cost, subject to income levels.. from what I have read, but I am unsure,
Healthcare needs reform but this ain't it! The first order of buisness should be reel in lawyers and insurance companies. Then clear the system of corruption, overpricing and fraud then evaluate whats needed. Oh, but I forgot we have to try and get re-elected first.

Curious as to what people who are against everyone having healthcare think should be done for those who really can't afford healthcare. What are the other options? Continue down the same road we are on now?

This is an unscientific poll.I am curious to know the answers to four very simple questions:1. Do you have health insurance now?2. Who pays the premium (main monthly cost) of your health insurance?e.g., employer, government program, you, other3. If you didn't have insurance through a group...

Good morning,Democrats and Republicans agree -- the health care status quo isn't working for the American people.Health insurance is growing more and more expensive by the day. Too many of us can't afford it -- not middle class families, not businesses, not the Federal Government. Insurance...
