   This just in... Donovan McNabb of the Philadelphia Eagles has been traded to division rival Washington Redskins.

      Wow - as an Eagles fan I'm not sure about this one! I guess it's time to let some of the younger guys step up to the plate - but Donovan has been such an amazing player and ultra-professional - it will be sad not to see him at the Eagles next year....

   As a Cowboy fan. I can honestly say it could not happen to a better player. Every star who has been traded or gone as a free agent has been a bust with the Skins.

   Wow, this was a bold and actually strange move! Normally teams stay away from trading a starting QB inside the same division. The Eagle/Redskin rivalry should heat up now!!! I feel for Donovan in this move though...he just got a corp of receivers and now he is in Washington...with no real threats to throw to.
   This has been a wild off-season so far!

      I am a Cowboy fan and I don't understand this move either.  I know the Eagles have Kolb and Um, Vick...?...but just a 2nd round pick?

         I would rather have McNabb over Vick and Kolb as McNabb at least has 3-4 more good years left in him. He certainly can mentor Kolb.
         
         The Eagles will be getting a 2nd round pick in this year's draft and a 3rd or 4th rounder next year....
         
         We will see how it all plays out in Sept...

   What I don't get is the Eagles trading McNabb to a DIVISION RIVAL.  In my logic, you trade someone to team not in your division.  The Redskins get their QB because we Jason Campbell was never going to be the answer.  Campbell will move on.  I looked on CBSSports.com and was intriguied to see the backup to McNabb is Rex Grossman.  Redskins fans, you better hope McNabb stays healthy.  I am a Bears fan, I know the feeling of having Grossman as your QB.  Although Cutler is looking alot like Grossman himself.  Well, the 2010 NFL Season is looking to be a fun season this coming year.

      If Cutler gets some good supporting players he will be fine, he did well in Denver because he had a great O-line and receivers. Chicago needs help in both of those areas...the defence should be better this year.

   McNabb...I really feel for this guy..11 years in Philly and treated like sh1t the whole 11 years by the entire city..He deserved so much better. I hope he does well with the Skins and that they kick the crap out of Philly everytime they them. I think the Skins will draft a QB in the first or second round and have McNabb mentor him for a couple of years.

   i agree with stormy on this one.  mcnabb was treated royally like crap over the years, and I never believed once that he was remotely ANDY REID'S GUY.  Because the evidence doesn't support that. Like the whole t.o situation, reid could've easily suspended t.o. a lot sooner or benched him long before he started to question mcnabb's leadership on the team, but he did nothing until it became absolutely necessary.  then it seems like whenever mcnabb does get injured, reid suddenly changes his offense to be more balanced, versus when mcnabb is healthy, he forces mcnabb to throw the ball over 80 percent of the time.  sure, you can argue and say it's mcnabb, but then why does reid say publicly he prefers to pass the ball then does it with mcnabb but not with anyone else like jeff garcia? 
   
   then during preseason last year, mcnabb had to go up to reid and tell him he wanted to get some practice reps in, while reid was having too much fun keeping michael vick in the game testing out the wild cat offense.  sure, you can say it's so the team can become more familiar with it, but shouldn't reid already want to get mcnabb ready for the season without his star player asking him?  seriously, i don't think mcnabb ever was phillies or reid's guy.  no, they just never appreciated him.  i just hope that the eagles finish dead last in their division this year for what they did.

   Most of us here in Philly were suffering from McNabb fatigue. He had decent numbers, but just not that 'intangible' that gives great players an edge. You don't come off the field smiling after throwing an interception; you come off angry! I need to see more intensity than that. He also, in my opinion, suffered from panic attacks. His vomiting in the SuperBowl was an example. Great players in all sports WANT the ball in the final seconds, WANT to take charge...they lose their composure in the huddle and turtle up!
   
   He's no threat in Washington. If he couldn't win with the '04 Eagles, there's no way he can win with the '10 Redskins.
   
   I don't think he was treated like crap, but I think he played the victim role whenever he could. In the end, he always pointed fingers at those around him. I, like most Eagles fans, was delighted to see us turn the page on McNabb. Not a bad guy.  Just not a champion attitude.
   
   Now, if we could only get Reid out of here....

    You never trade a guy like mcnabb within your dividon its just nuts!! Now the eagles have to play him twice each year.
