Bejeweled Blitz High Scores How To Get More Points

Updated on July 29, 2015

Bejeweled Blitz High Score on Facebook

If you've played Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook, chances are pretty good that you have been hooked. Created by the makers of the popular video game Bejeweled 2 for the iPhone and PC, Bejeweled Blitz is a fast-pace, quick to play, one-minute version of the highly rated and very popular Bejeweled 2 gem matching strategy game. Similar to the newer Candy Crush Soda and others.

Bejeweled Blitz for Facebook is, like most Facebook games, a flash-based video game which means that you will need the latest Adobe Flash plug-in or Adobe Flash update to play the game. Regardless of which web browser you use, Adobe Flash is a huge memory hog, and unfortunately, enabling Flash for games also enables Flash ads which are often noisy, and slow to load.

Users of Firefox should install NoScript plug-in which will allow the user to pick and choose which sites to allow Flash to run on. It also blocks all JavaScript by default, but configuring NoScript can be done quickly and easily with a few tips. Here is some help for setting up the NoScript Whitelist.

Once you have Bejeweled Blitz up and running, you'll notice that it is a fast-paced game. At first, it seems as though the game requires lighting reflexes and quick decision making. While that is true to some extent, if you want to get higher scores on Bejeweled Blitz, just moving the mouse around faster isn't the answer. Instead, you need specific Bejeweled Blitz strategies and tips to beat your friends and get that high score.

Bejeweled Blitz Tips Strategy Guide

To get more points on Bejeweled Blitz and get top score, it is necessary to understand some of the basics of Bejeweled Blitz.

First, Bejeweled Blitz is just a faster one-minute version of the not-free game Bejeweled 2 which is available as a PC game or as an iPhone App from the Apple Appstore. While game design often looks like just whatever somebody thought up that looked like fun, good games always have scientific concepts in their design. In the case of Bejeweled, game designers rely a great deal on how the human mind works in conjunction with the human eye.

The human eye sees certain things better than others. While no two people have the same biases and biological responses to colors and movement, there are some common traits shared among all gamers.

First, everyone has a tendency to see certain colors better than others. For example, you may see blocks of green and orange better than you might perceive the same blocks of red and blue. By including all of the main colors, the designers not only create a visually interesting game, but one that will include a layer of challenge for all who play it.

To determine where you color bias lies, start a game few games of Bejeweled Blitz and just look at the screen. What gems do there seem to be the most of. Which ones seem to form blocks or groupings most easily? While one game may actually have more of a certain color, chances are that at the start of the game there is a relatively similar number of each color over time. So, if it seems like there is a ton of green and not much yellow each time you start a game, then you have a preference for green and not so for yellow.

Use this knowledge in your game play. Actively watch and search for colors that you do not have a preference for, yellow in our example. Don't actively search for colors you do have a preference for. These will more automatically "appear" thanks to your brain's bias toward those colors.

Bonus Gems Bejeweled Blitz Cascades and Highest Scoring

In order to get the highest scores in Bejeweled Blitz, game concepts need to be converted into smart high-scoring strategies.

First, in order to achieve the highest scores, you must get long big cascades. A cascade is when the gems fall after a match is made by the player. Sometimes, as the gems fall down, the cascade creates matches automatically without the player clicking on anything. Any true high score can only be achieved when this happens.

Big high-scoring cascades are more likely when the initial matches are made near the bottom of the screen. So always look for the gem matches that are furthest down.

Cascades that occur from matching vertical patterns cause the overall board to change more than those that are horizontal. So, if you are setting up a bonus or other pattern match, try for horizontal cascades to stay in control. If you are stuck or the need a big shakeup in the board, look for vertical matches.

Finally, creating bonus gems in Bejeweled Blitz is the key to top scores. As you look for matches, look for patterns that can create bonus gems. The most valuable bonuses aren't the ones that take out the most gems. The most powerful bonus gems are those that multiply your score. These gems will be round with 2x, 3x, or 4x on them.
