Top 10 Steam Games under $5
Who said you can't have fun under $5? Well I compiled a list of Steam games just under $5. Of course you need to have the Steam client installed on your computer to buy these games.
Some of the games maybe a little more cheaper depending on your region. If you're from Asia, most of these games will only cost you around $3-4.
Listed in no particular order
1. Five Nights at Freddy's
Highly acclaimed by gamers and critics alike, Five Nights at Freddy's is definitely one of the best indie horror games out there. The gameplay is surprisingly very simple. It's a point and click game where you control several cameras where you need to carefully observe the animatronic robots roaming the place at night. You are only given a limited power source so you need to be really mindful and careful on how to use your resources or you will be helpless. It's such a marvel how a simple point and click game gives you a very unnerving feeling of horror.
2. Yet Another Zombie Defense
Yet Another Zombie Defense is an Indie Tower defense-like game the features a top down shooter gameplay action. You defend yourself against the hordes of zombies that gets stronger every level. The players are allowed to set up various barricades and other defense structures like turrets to help them get through a wave. The game also features multiplayer support up to 4 people playing at once.
The game allows you to simultaneously control both the Overlord and his many minions. The gameplay is generally centered around the use of your minions to defeat enemies and get through to certain levels. The minions can perform various task like guard, retrieve etc. There are four type of minions, each have different colors and abilities. The Overlord himself can attack the enemies and has his own special abilities. The player collects different colored orbs that corresponds the color of the minions in order to replenish the respective minions numbers. Various artifacts are also collected to increase the Overlord's health and mana or to increase the number of minions you can summon.
4. Acceleration of SUGURI X-Edition
Acceleration of SUGURI X-Edition is a fun fighting game that features bullet hell action fun. The gameplay is simple. You choose your fighter just like in a typical fighting game. The fighting however is vastly different. You and your opponent fire countless of "bullets" against each other. Others may find this game quite difficult and it may take a little while to get used to. This game is a port of the original SUGURI series game for PS3. The game has a controller support so if you have a gamepad, I highly suggest you use it as it will let you play the game a lot more easier.
5. The Binding of Isaac
The developer of Super Meat Boy is here to deliver yet again one of the best indie games out there. The Binding of Isaac is a 2d dungeon crawler video game that will remind you a lot of Legend of Zelda. Each level are randomly generated so players won't encounter the same dungeons. You take control Isaac where you must battle various monsters along the way. The player must defeat all the monsters in a stage to move on to the next. The game lets you collect money to buy various upgrades, equipments etc. from shopkeepers.
So if you're a big fan of Dungeon Crawler games and the Legend of Zelda series, I suggest you try this game.
6. One Finger Death Punch
The is one of the most simplistic yet very satisfying and addictive fighting game out there. You control a stick figure and you must defend yourself from your fellow stick figure enemies that are coming on both your left and right sides. This game only requires you to use your mouse. Press the LMB to attack the enemies on the left and RMB to attack the enemies on the right. That's it very simple. Your stick character performs different moves and attacks whenever you press buttons so you're not gonna get tired watching your character beating the enemies over and over again.
7. T.E.C. 3001
T.E.C. 3001 is a pretty good fast paced indie running video game. You control a robot as you race through different stages full of different obstacles. The controls are relatively simple. You press buttons that will allow you to either Jump, Charge, Dodge, or Slide. The game also features a split-screen multiplayer support for a Local co-op gameplay.
8. Halo: Spartan Assault
Halo: Spartan Assault is a top down shooter action game. The gameplay is a Top Down shooting meaning in displays the same gameplay like that of a dungeon crawler games much like Diablo and Torchlight. Though it's only a single players so it's kind of a let down since it could more fun as a multiplayer game. Either way I still highly recommend this game especially if you're a big Halo fan.
9. Intrusion 2
The Intrusion series will remind you a lot of Metal Slug and Contra. It's a 2d side side scrolling action indie video game. The gameplay and graphics are a lot like Metal Slug. Though unlike Metal Slug, Intrusion 2 doesn't have any multiplayer feature. But like Metal Slug, the gameplay is good and the boss battles are equally fun. It feels like a spiritual successor to the Metal Slug series. A must have game if you love the Metal Slug games.
10. Beast Boxing Turbo
Beast Boxing Turbo is an indie sports game that lets you control a human as she tries to fight her way through a number of ferocious beasts. The game is a first person boxing game that will remind you a lot of those boxing games in the arcade. The game is fast paced and requires a good amount of timing and control to deliver a good and satisfying blow to the enemy. It can be challenging at times and may require a little more time for those who are new to these kinds of game. Either way the game is still very fun to play and a must have if you love boxing games.
