The Best Game Mode to Rank Up in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3)

Updated on November 23, 2011

I have found through my own experience that leveling up in MW3 is completely dependent on what game mode you play, mixed with your skill level. Obviously, the better players are going to level up faster, but if they play the wrong game modes, they will not level up the fastest they possibly can. I'm here to help you level up as fast as possible! Without modding that is...

For this article, I will break it up into three separate groups of gamers. The beginner trying to level up, the intermediate level gamer, and the pros.

First: The Beginner

If you're a newcomer to MW3, or not very good at the game in general, but still want to rank up relatively quickly, this is the guide for you. I will tell you what game modes you want to play to maximize your potential. I will explain now, if you want to know what guns to use, see my other article on which guns are best for all levels of gamer.

Best game modes for Beginners:

As a newcomer, you'll want to avoid game modes where a high amount of your points come from you individually, that means, avoid: Search and Destroy, Capture the Flag, and Free For All.

You will want to stick to game modes such as Kill Confirmed, Domination, Ground War, and most importantly, Headquarters Pro. These game modes have you rely a lot on your team, and will thus earn points just for helping.

The Best game modes for Intermediate players:

Just like the newcomers, avoid Search and Destroy, Capture the Flag, and Free For All, for you will surely be prey for the experienced players.

You will want to stick to Team Deathmatch, Demolition, and Headquarters.

These game modes give you plenty of points, but also spare you from coming in tenth (if you would play free for all).

The Best game modes for expert players:

You will want to avoid game modes where lower level or lower skilled players can jump on your back. You will want to play Search and Destroy, and Free For All. Search and destroy will provide you will plenty of points and is the go to game mode for most pros looking to level up. If you are really good, you should have no problem placing in the top two for Free For All, which can allow you to prey on those new players who didn't read this article! Many newbies play free for all, and so you can level up there extremely fast...
