The Pixel Based Adventure Builder Game

What exactly is the Trove game? Trove is a sandbox block type adventure game that allows you to mine for resources, slay beasts, defeat dungeons, and build your own World and Empire! Trove is a fun game for both the adventurer and builder that gives its players a unique experience that leads to hours and hours of playing! The game itself came out of the block builder genre games such as Minecraft, Block World, and Craft the World.

One of the things that stands out about Trove is the ability to make your own world in a multiplier setting and the fact you are FORCED into playing the adventure part in order to build with different colors and objects (unless trading for blocks/items). Trove also has a very special cornerstone system that allows you to keep a house in your pocket to bring with you and place in worlds while exploring!

"Trove also has a very special cornerstone system that allows you to keep a house in your pocket to bring with you and place in worlds while exploring!"

Trove just like most sandbox builders have many blocks to unlock to use, and it also has many collecting periods and monsters to slay! So lets take a look at some of the key aspects that make Trove ... well Trove!

Pick a Username and Your Character

Starting off in Trove your a little lost as to who your are. Logging in you will be asked for a Username to display your ingame name. While Trove is still a newish game many usernames are still available and will be for some time. I suggest picking a username with no numbers since you have so many options open to you unlike most other games such as Runescape, World of Warcraft, or Minecraft. If your username is already taken here is a Guide on Choosing the Right Username.

After you have made your choice of Username, you are by default a Knight. While the Knight class is a fun classic, for more unique gameplay you might want to be a Gunslinger or Fae Trickster. Each has its own weapons and unique equipment. Your class of character can be changed using a "Class Changer" block.

Your Adventure AWAITS! Go forth and Beat the Bosses!

Now that you are settled in and have your sword sharpened, guns cleaned, or wand at the ready its time to go out and start making a name for yourself. Trove uses portals to create or transport you to worlds to play, mine, and explore. You start off the game entering a level 1-3 Adventure Portal. This will bring you to the world spawn where you can go run out and destroy anything, slay mobs, mine blocks and ore, collect resources, or complete dungeons. I highly advise not entering dungeons right away. It is much better to practice shooting and mechanics on enemy in the open world, collect some blocks, and create/find some potions to heal yourself first! Just like all sandboxes though, there is no plotline to follow - go forth and do whatever it is your heart desires!

Basic Building Blocks

Trove has basic building blocks that the world itself is created out of. These blocks are basically primary colors that are found naturally. These blocks are the ones that are used in recipes to create different variants of the color and are used in a few of the more advanced building blocks recipes. At this time there are only a few basic colors.

Check out this Detailed Guide to Finding all the Primal Colors in Trove!

ORES and WOOD are IMPORTANT!!!

Throughout the worlds of Trove you will need to find some crafting materials in-order to advance yourself into newer and greater blocks. Core building supply include Enchanted Stumps, Warpseeds, Bottles, and many other specialized ores! These ores are found in the world itself and have to be mined out (just like any colored blocks) to obtain them. While some are rarer then others all can be found in the world. Mobs also sometimes drop useful items like Warpseeds. It is very crucial to collect these as you play since when the need arises for them it can be very tedious to collect enough of a resource for what it is you want to build!

Check out this Guide to Finding all Ores and Collecting all Resources in Trove!

Its Time to Craft Your Advanced Machines

Machines are what allow you to craft your resources and blocks into other blocks. There are quite a few machines in Trove that you have to make. The most basic set that everyone should setup in the beginning is a Deconstructor, Forge, Crafting Bench, WorkBench, and Cube Converter. The Crafting Bench is what makes the Cube Converter, which allows you to open up new shades of colors from your Primal Set. It is only though completing these machines and collecting ores and resources that you can advance though the game to the more fancy blocks.

Advanced Building Blocks

After your machines are crafted you forward your advancement into more complex and different looking blocks. Some machines allow you to build other machines, such as the Workbench creates the Fae Workbench. This once recipes are obtained allow you to make decorations that have to do with the Fae Race (Fairy). There are 4 different kinds of Workbenches and they all have a special unique style to the decorations they can create. Higher tiered machines also allow you to make different colored blocks once the recipes are unlocked also. Blocks such as metallic yellow or glowing green are neat building blocks that can only be obtained though the higher machines (or trading!). Other advanced type blocks include Trading Booths, Community Chests, Chests, and many other items!

Mounts and Pets Galore!

Trove also has mounts and pets you can obtain in the game! One of the funnest part of most online games where you have to venture long distances are having Mounts! Mounts allow you to run quicker then you normally could to cover more ground in less time. There are many different mounts in the game currently and more being added all the time. Pets are also a fun little addition to the game. The pets normally give small little buffs to your character such as a little extra damage or more move speed. These pets will follow you around during your progress so you won't be lonely. New mounts and pets cost real money (points) to buy and any alpha donators who donate $50 or more get a "Gentleman Velocerapter" mount. Other mounts and pets are obtained though the points you can buy or earn in alpha.

Building is Still a Major Part of the Game!

While collecting raw materials, doing dungeons for better gear, or simply playing ball with others is fine and dandy - but building is still a major part of the game! While the cornerstone is a limited area that can be spawned rapidly simply by clicking on a sign in the current world your in, your given an entire Homeworld to build up by yourself or with friends! The homeworlds are only limited by the amount of resources you can collect to build new biomes onto your existing one. Will you make a large beautiful farm or a thriving city with skyscrapers? Maybe you will make pixel art or large statues of your favorite tv show characters? Creativity and seeing what others make are what truly makes the game fun! Some people show their love and history with Minecraft while others build large fan driven objects. Some just like building houses and palaces. Whatever it is that you enjoy building the (home)world is yours!

If you enjoy seeing what others have made, check out this Trove Builds article!

Don't Go into Higher Worlds then Your LEVEL!!!!

Some Tips that Might Save Your Life!

Trove, while seemingly easy does have its points of difficulty for some people. There are some simple tips to think about while playing that might just save your life!

  • DO NOT ENTER WORLDS HIGHER THEN YOUR CURRENT LEVEL!!!
  • Jump in the air while shooting to safe shot enemies.
  • Gunslingers can charge up their 2nd attack style and hit enemies though blocks.
  • Destroy grass and terrain to get health potions, world spawn portals, and bombs.

Sharing is Caring!

Thanks for checking out my Hub about Trove! Hopefully you come to love this game just like I do and help unveil it fully. While currently in Alpha you have to donate to play. The beta will come out soon and anyone who pledged a $5 donation will have access to the beta! Best of luck finding rare equipment or recipes Trovians!
